MAMA Awards 2022 Day 1: From Stray Kids to Jeon Somi, Here Are All the Red Carpet Looks

The biggest night of the year for Kpop artists is here with MAMA Awards 2022 being held at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan. Organised by CJ E&M and broadcasted via the music channel Mnet, the first day of the award ceremony has finally kicked off with artists walking out on the red carpet, marking the 24th return of the highly coveted award show series. This event comes as a first of its own since the award ceremony was rebranded from its former title Mnet Asian Music Awards in August 2022 to simply MAMA Awards.

Day 1 of the ceremony will be graced by the following line-up of performers: Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, JO1, Kep1er, Hyolyn, Bibi, Forestella, Nmixx, Le Sserafim, Street Man Fighter, Kara, DKZ, Leejung Lee, and collaboration stages between Ive, Kep1er, Nmixx, Le Sserafim and NewJeans, Hyolyn and Bibi, and Street Man Fighter, Kang Daniel and Zico respectively.

Now, let’s jump on to the red carpet attires of the evening and witness all of these artists flaunt their best looks for the event. We’ve curated the complete list of artists attending the first day of MAMA Awards 2022.

Tomorrow X Together

The HYBE boy group has kept it rather loose and flowy for the first day with each of them swearing by a unique look. Despite the outlandish choice of attires, all the members seem to be pulling it off, thus making heads turn on the red carpet.

The Red Carpet Hosts

Hosting the red carpet event, the trio – TV personality Ahn Hyun-mo, actor/ model Nam Yoon-su and LaChica’s Gabee – welcomed the celebrities attending the first day of the awards night.

DKZ

The six members of the South Korean boy band managed by Dongyo Entertainment leave their mark on the red carpet with identical matching outfits, sporting the quintessential look of a boy group. With leather pants and two-shaded monochrome jackets studded with golden embellishments, the group displays its unity.

Le Sserafim

The five member girl group under HYBE and Source Music followed a unified trend in opting for the asymmetrical dress look. Once again their monochrome attires shined through and set the bar high with their minimalism.

Nmixx

It’s the year of kpop rookies and Nmixx is yet another new girl group under SQU4D, a sub-label of JYP Entertainment. All seven members of the group came out for the red carpet event with an all-black uniformity in their outfits. No need to look elsewhere if you’re searching for how to style various black attires because Nmixx’s snap from the event gives it all away.

Kep1er

After coming together as a group at the Mnet reality survival competition show Girls Planet 999 in 2021, the girl group sported a rather ‘blush’ look on the carpet with each member leaving behind lessons about how to pull off light shade short dresses with various hairdos.

Jeon Somi

Somi passes a flying kiss while owning her vibrant eye-catching look in a yellowish golden gown with a sleek necklace pulling everyone’s attention to her. Quite literally shining her attire, she looks like a modern-day princess set to host Day 1 of MAMA Awards 2022.

Kang Daniel

Daniel could easily pass off as the male lead of a goth themed movie with his suave three-piece suit, while his western pointed bow tie complete the look.

Kara

DSP Media’s girl group went for the unified look as well, but this time in the ‘women in black’ style. The members’ respective accessories like long dropping earrings, armlets or belts will make you want to steal another glance at them.

Hyolyn and Bibi

Also set to perform their collaboration stage at the awards ceremony, the pioneering ladies in the game have the colour black as their best friend. While Bibi went for a leather look for her body-hugging dress with a half-moon shaped slit in the front, Hyolyn was the chic to her elegance with her beanie exuding a laid-back aura.

Leejung Lee

Lee set the tone a class apart with probably the most unique looks among the ladies tonight. With a lip-ring, bomber jacket dress with puffy sleeves, she wore a white top that comes down into a sheer skirt look. Her quirky choice made the choreographer look all things at once.

JO1

Since the event is being held in Japan at the moment, not welcoming one of the countries’ own was out of the question. The eleven member Japanese boy group graced the event in shades of grey in the usual gentlemanly stance, sporting their respective hairdo colours.

Lee Jae-wook

Fan-favourite handsome Alchemy of Souls actor also turned up to the event in a chill all-black attire.

Mio Imada

The Japanese actress walked out in an adorable tomboy look with a black blazer and polka dotted tie, accompanied by wide leg denim jeans.

Stray Kids

Following the classic ‘men in black’ trend, Stray Kids have come to own the night with their holistic boy band appeal, with each member going along with the same colour theme and looking like a complete unit. While some of them are seen with the suave tie look, others went for the leather pants alternative, yet still serving the best looks all the same.
