In the last episode of the drama, Hyo-ri tells Ji-an about her heartbreaking diagnosis and asks for space to regroup and find out what makes her happy. Ji-an, obviously, is left completely heartbroken and decides to rethink her life as well.

Love Take Two Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens with Hyo-ri in the bus getting a surprise nosebleed, and then follows her journey from getting to know about her illness and her struggling with various complicated feelings without Ji-an’s help. In the present, Ji-an desperately tries to get Hyo-ri the surgery that she needs, but it’s a costly and somewhat dangerous procedure. However, Ji-an is bent on doing whatever she can to help her daughter recover. She goes to the office to get her job back, but after having had enough of the CEO’s behaviour, who fires her, she lets years of resentment flow out before walking out.

With new determination, Ji-an heads to Cheonghae to support Hyo-ri. Meanwhile, Hyo-ri enjoys her time in the village, helping the others around. In a surprising twist, Ji-an runs into Jeong-seok on the bus in an adorable meet-cute moment that reflects the way they had met for the first time in school. The two familiarise themselves with each other once more, and Ji-an learns that Hyo-ri is staying on their property.

When the two meet, Hyo-ri again asks for space and tells her that she doesn’t have time to think of her feelings after having to change everything that she has known till then. It’s a heartbreaking moment for both women as they grieve alone for what they might lose. In the midst of this, Hyo-ri walks into the ocean and almost drowns before Bo-hyeon saves her. Afterwards, Hyo-ri tells Ji-an that she won’t be going back to Seoul.

That evening, the two fight once again, and Hyo-ri tells Ji-an to stop talking about being a single mother as if it’s something to be very proud about. It’s a sad moment for Ji-an because viewers get to see the heartbreak on her face, and we get a glimpse of the bullying she faced when she was younger for being a young mother. It’s a defence tactic for her, one that she cultivated to make things just a little easier. However, it’s now coming back to haunt her.

The next morning, Hyo-ri joins Bo-hyeong at the flower farm, and after having a rather good time together, Bo-hyeong asks her about her rude behaviour with her mother. Hyo-ri immediately shuts him down, and it leaves them both feeling awkward. She later pays a visit to Chief Hwang to get her money back and realises that he, too, is living in abject poverty. She recounts how she had to survive with Hyo-ri by living beyond her means to earn that money, but, in the end, tells him to return the money when he is able. In a rather endearing twist, Hwang gives Ji-an an old farmhouse and tells Hyo-ri that she has a good mother who saves lives.

With her daughter’s words ringing in her ear, Ji-an decides to pay the farmhouse a visit with Jeong-seok and immediately sees Hyo-ri living in it.

I didn’t think I would take as much interest as I ended up taking in this Kdrama, but I can say with certainty right now that I am hooked. It’s sweet, it’s layered, and it’s extremely watchable in every sense of the term. In two episodes, the series has given us an entire world that can go anywhere, and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
