Lockwood and Co is a teen action-adventure TV show based on Jonathan Stroud’s young-adult book series and is created by Joe Cornish. The series stars Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati and Ivanno Jeremiah, alongside other cast members. The series has 8 episodes, each with a runtime of around 35 – 50 minutes.
Netflix’s description of the series reads:
IN A WORLD PLAGUED BY GHOSTS, THREE TEENS BAND TOGETHER AS PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS, RISKING WHAT LITTLE THEY HAVE TO UNRAVEL A DIABOLICAL CONSPIRACY.
Lockwood and Co Episode 8: What Happened?

The last episode has our trio in a problem, with the bone glass mirror found but not delivered to DEPRAC, Lockwood and Lucy have come into contact with a little problem of their own – they realise that Georgie is probably mesmerised and things are more complicated than what they first took it for. Mary Dulac’s book, at least, lets them know as much and looking at their tablecloth proves their suspicions – there are spirals all over that cloth.
Thus, Lucy and Lockwood rush to Bickerstaff’s grave, with Skull’s help, of course, but Lucy has to move on, leaving the others behind to fight off Winkman’s people. Once inside, Lucy comes across a horrifying truth – Pamela Joplin gets into George’s good graces and makes him get the mirror to her. Her plan is to make him look into it and get to know what’s inside because whoever sees it loses their mind.
Fortunately, Lucy gets there just in time, and after taking George’s place, she gets Skull to look into the mirror, who tells her that it’s not what he knew and that it’s a trap. There is no eternal. George ends up breaking the mirror, which in turn kills Pamela as she looks into the broken mirror. With the souls inside now free to leave, George and Lucy face their remaining foe – Bickerstaff himself. Just as they are about to be ghost-locked though, Lockwood gets there and saves them from a sad fate.
Lockwood and Co Ending Explained

So, how did Bickerstaff make the glass? Well, according to Bickerstaff, simply committing plain murder wasn’t going to make a horrible object that exuded death. He tortured seven patients and extracted parts of them while they were alive to create the glass that was filled with nothing but anguish and misery. It’s supposed to show eternal life or the future or something way beyond anyone’s imagination. However, Skull doesn’t see it that way.
So what does Skull see inside the glass? Although Skull is quite excited about the glass and reuniting with his master at long last, when he sees inside the glass, he, unfortunately, sees something that is not the eternal as he had hoped. He tells Lucy that he saw something horrible that is a trap that must be destroyed. The physical toll of being a part of this causes Lucy to pass out.
What’s inside Lockwood’s locked room? We don’t know but let’s hope Netflix doesn’t cancel the season so that we can find out in the second season.
Why is Joplin so fascinated with the glass? Joplin, much like George, is fascinated with anything and everything historic. Since she has never had any other talents, the whole idea of the mystery surrounding such an artefact and what studying it can bring probably makes her feel like it will change her life for the better. Probably give it meaning? Unfortunately, however, having George and Lucy in the plot doesn’t work in her favour, and she ends up looking into the mirror herself at the end, which results in a horrible death.
What’s the connection between the Golden Blade and Lockwood? As Lockwood mentions to George and Lucy later, the Golden Blade probably had something to do with his parents’ death. He mentioned how their deaths were insignificant, so clearly, he knows more than he’s letting on. And considering he’s working with Penelope (but not Fittes Agency), there is more to this story than meets the eye.
