Living for the Dead Review

We are queer and here and in love with exploring this area of new-age ghost hunters who can give a rainbow eye to the paranormal world. That might just be what Living for the Dead would make you feel but, we are here to take a deeper dive, of course!

‘Helping the Living by Healing the Dead’ is how the first episode of Living for the Dead starts, giving us a small cue as to how it is going to go about things. We meet a team of five ghost-hunting experts. This includes Ken Boggle- a tarot card reader, Logan Tyalor- a psychic medium, Alex Le May- a ghost hunter, Juju Bae- a spiritual healer and witch and, lastly a paranormal researcher named Roz Hernandez. These five cover locations from the Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada and The Palomino in Nevada to the Copper Queen Hotel of Arizona.

On their across the world, the group meets people- some wanting to get rid of the haunting spirits in their houses to the ones who are deeply interested in knowing why the spirit is lurking in the corridors of their motels. With every episode, Living for the Dead takes up a new case to work on that is thrilling and exciting, keeping us always interested and wondering.

As the series progresses, we see that Living for the Dead has one defining character that separates it from most of the other horror docu-series- this one shows empathy for its ghosts and does not try to reduce them to evil spirits. We get to the splitting reality that not all ghosts are haunting and not every spirit is trying to possess us.

Giving a positive light to a heavy topic like this really changes a lot, making the show more watchable and engaging with a tone of hilarity and quirkiness. The representation of the LGBTQ+ community is also huge in this one and really makes a difference to the field of content thrown out there.

Living for the Dead: Final Verdict

The real end of the deal has to be that this is a niche watch. No matter how entertaining and interesting it gets, there are elements that might not cater to everyone’s watch list. On second thought, one can say that those elements are what make this show stand out. Yes, that would be correct but, this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea to sip.

With that being said if you are someone who enjoys watching the world through the lens of the queer population and is a curious cat when it comes to paranormal and horror-related events, this is a catch for you. A match made between the realms of life and death. It is hilarious, and quirky and has moments that will leave you in utter shock.
