Like Flowers in Sand Episode 10 Preview: Like Flowers in Sand (모래에도 꽃이 핀다) is a South Korean drama series directed by Kim Jin-woo and written by Won Yoo-jung. Developed by KT Studio Genie and produced by Astory, the narrative revolves around a group of young individuals striving to flourish in their lives amid the vibrant setting of Geosan’s ssireum city.
In June 2023, AStory production company revealed the signing of a licensing agreement with Netflix for the global broadcasting rights of the series. The show now occupies the ENA’s Wednesday and Thursday 21:00 time slot, formerly held by Moon In The Day.

Kim Baek-doo, a seasoned ssireum player contemplating retirement from the sport, experiences a transformative twist in his life when he reconnects with his childhood friend Oh Yoo-kyung. She assumes the role of the management team leader for his ssireum team, which is currently teetering on the brink of disbandment. With the collaborative efforts of key individuals such as Min Hyun-wook and Joo Mi-ran, along with the addition of the new coach Kwak Jin-soo and Baek-doo’s trusted best friend Jo Seok-hee, they unite their strengths to rescue the team from its precarious situation.

The ensemble cast includes, Jang Dong-yoon taking up the role of Kim Baek-doo, a Taebaek-class player of the Geosan County Office Ssireum Team, facing imminent disbandment, renowned as a prodigy for his exceptional skills. Lee Ju-myoung portrays Oh Yoo-kyung, the management team leader of the Geosan County Office Ssireum Team. Yoon Jong-seok embodies Min Hyun-wook, a young man accustomed to a life of abundance. Kim Bo-ra takes on the character of Joo Mi-ran, an enigmatic café owner. Lee Jae-joon depicts Kwak Jin-soo, Baek-doo’s long-time rival and former ssireum wrestler. Lee Joo-seung portrays Jo Seok-hee, Baek-doo’s best friend and a police officer at the Geosan Police Station.

In the next episode, following Baek-du’s confession to Du-sik the situation becomes awkward between them. However, for the sake of the investigation, Du-sik remains in the town and tries to maintain a good relationship. However, she is not able to deny her her feelings for Baek-du for long.
Flowers in Sand Episode 9 Recap
The episode starts with a flashback of a young Bak-du who is seemingly depressed. It is the aftermath of Du-sik leaving town without providing an explanation, which leaves him distraught. He goes around the town wondering why she left town, but he finds no answer to the question.
Back in the present day, Mi-ran starts to explain why she was found in Choi Chil-seong’s car. Chil-seong visited Mi-ran’s cafe when he was still alive and revealed that it was because of him that her father died. He dragged him into gambling, due to which he presumably died by suicide. So, to find out more about her late father, Mi-ran continued to remain in contact with him.
One day, she went out with him because he was going to reveal more about her father. However, while driving Baek-du accidentally crashed into the car, and that is when both of them saw each other. Moreover, Chil-seong also left a bag full of money in her name. But instead of keeping it, she handed it over to Du-sik so that she could find a breakthrough in the case.
Later, the police officer, who is Baek-du’s boss meets with her to discuss more on the case. She suggests that both Du-sik and Hyeon-uk should go back to Seoul since the case is almost solved. However, Du-sik refuses and asks for more time in the town so that she can catch all the culprits and bring everyone to justice.
On the other hand, a rumour goes around the town that Baek-du is involved with some girl, and the girl is none other than Du-sik. It creates a lot of tension amongst the villagers since, according to everyone, Du-sik is married. Baek-du starts getting into a lot of trouble with his coach and the people. He finally finds out from Du-sik about the rumour, which makes him very confused.
The rumour mill does not stop, and people begin to bad-mouth Baek-du. During a conversation among the people, Baek-du’s mother overhears, and a huge commotion occurs in the middle of the street. Baek-du also arrives, and his mother asks him if the rumours are true. He denies the allegations, but he also gets angry and asks the people to stop gossiping, as it can ruin the lives of the victims.
Baek-du runs towards Du-sik at the stadium and confesses his feelings. He reveals that he likes her romantically and wants to be with her. Du-sik appears to be shocked with the confession and the episode ends on that note.
