Last Summer Episode 3 Review: It’s So Utterly Confusing From Start to End!

In the last episode, Ha-gyeong and Do-ha’s argument seemingly finds an end when he saves her from a devastating situation, and she gives in to his charms, feeling utterly exhausted. Things, seemingly, come to a quiet understanding between the two.

Last Summer Episode 3 Recap

After an emotionally draining conversation between Ha-gyeong and Do-ha that leaves her devastated, the morning after, Do-ha tries to take care of her and leaves medicines on the counter, but she refuses to take his help. While Ha-gyeong spends time at a pig farm, Do-ha asks Su-hyeok to drag out the court case till the end of summer so that he can stay with her. In a rather surprising twist, Do-ha and Ha-gyeong end up working together on the closed Patan High School to turn it into an observatory.

After a rather lengthy and immature fight in front of the mayor and others, Ha-gyeong and Do-ha go to the school, and for some reason, Do-ha seems to know a lot about the school, even though he never attended. This results in Ha-gyeong reminiscing as Do-ha’s presence leaves her feeling overwhelmed. Either way, she later tries to bring Ki-ho into the mix, but Do-ha catches that text and asks her to contact him instead.

That night, she gets a call that Someone is creating a ruckus in the high school and goes to check it out, getting reminded of the time she spent there with the two brothers gazing at the stars. Everything about the Peanut House now reminds her of Do-yeong and Do-ha during their summers together, when things would be perfectly balanced between the three of them, until Do-ha made the first move on her that apparently cracked their perfect friendship.

Ha-gyeong wakes up teary-eyed the next morning and gets another shocking news – she is being shifted to the architecture department. She is immediately annoyed and goes to meet Do-ha, and he promises to fix everything, including both of them. As he promises to keep loving her all summer, she can’t help but forget confessing to Do-young about her feelings for Do-ha, and Do-young eventually leaves.

I am so utterly confused about this drama. I am confused why Ha-gyeong thinks Do-yeong died because of her confession, because the series doesn’t provide context, just a stream a negativity that is never broken. I am also confused about Do-ha desperately trying to win her over, although I sort of get in the way because of their relationship and all that. However, the series seems to need a bit more context and some better storytelling in general. Right now, it’s way too negative without any reason and leaves you utterly confused from start to end.
