T-Series is on a roll, dropping trailers left and right, and so it has come forth with one for Kuttey on December 20, 2022, as well. Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Konkona Sensharma, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Madan and Shardul Bhardwaj, the upcoming film corresponds to the Caper category, i.e. a subgenre of the Heist film usually interspersed with witty, silly and comic reliefs.
Aasmaan Bhardwaj makes her directorial debut with the Bollywood black comedy thriller, who’s also worked out the story and screenplay for it, while Luv Ranjan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ankur Garg, Rekha Bhardwaj join in the mayhem as producers. This filmmakers’ lot is also responsible for some major Bollywood hits like Haider, Ishqiya, Maqbool, Talvar, Omkara and Kaminey. Hence, some cross-references making it to the final cut of today’s trailer is no suprise.
The newly released trailer relays an eventful altercation, high on cuss words, between the leading cast as neither bows down to the other’s demands. On one rainy night in Mumbai, all of these stray and distinct forces collide with a van carrying crores joining the rush. The film’s title sits well with all Kuttey i.e. dogs out for the same bone and conspiring the same scheme. A series of dramatically noir events follow fused with blood, guts, bullets and betrayal as each one of them has an eye out for the others.
What remains to be found out is, whether they’ll all get their hands on the bone, or lose out to their desires in the crossfire? The Hindi film reunites some great Bollywood icons of the past with contemporary talents. The trailer pans out with Arjun Kapoor making a sly move on the rest of the gang as Kaminey‘s Dhan Te Nan is heard in the background.
Tabu was last seen playing double role in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Abhishek Pathak’s Drishyam 2 in 2022. She’s also set to appear in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2023 spy film Khufiya. Arjun Kapoor last appeared as Gautam Mehra in Ek Villain Returns alongside John Abraham and Disha Patani, and Naseeruddin Shah’s last acting role was featured in the Prime Video series Modern Love: Mumbai and the romantic drama film Gehraiyaan in 2022.
