Back on track to advance further as a spiritual leader (who’d rather go for dinner, please, instead of inner peace), Jack Black’s iconic fluffy animated avatar, Po, is ready to face new challenges, as depicted in the Kung Fu Panda 4 trailer, released on December 13, 2023. Retracing steps to assume one of his most-loved roles through his career, Black will be back as Po on the big screen after nearly a decade as he steps forward to face off against his biggest enemy yet, the Chameleon.
Just when you’d thought Po would finally get to rest after defeating three world-class villains, Shifu promotes him to the post of the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, yet another trying challenge for the Dragon Warrior. On top of that, one of his old foes, Tai Lung seems to be back in action too, but only to become an expendable pawn for the new big bad in town.

With super abilities to harness the powers of every master villain, the Chameleon unleashes her fury on the quest to become the most dreadful force no one will dare to question. However, the shape-shifting sorceress must answer to the Dragon Warrior’s paws of power, as he finds resourceful assistance in Awkwafina’s Zhen, a wanted criminal.
All set to release in theatres on March 8, 2024, the fourth movie instalment of the series that began its journey back in 2008 stars Viola Davis as the eminently formidable Kung Fu Panda 4 villain, the Chameleon, Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master, Shifu, James Hong as Po’s adoptive father, Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, and Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s arch-nemesis whom we met in the first movie. Alongside them, Awkwafina joins in the fun adventure ride as a quick-witted thief and corsac fox, Zhen, who supposedly join forces with Po, and Ke Huy Quan as yet another newcomer, the leader of Den of Thieves, Han.

Although Po is prepared to fight back, the Furious Five – Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper and Crane – still seem to be out of sight. Will the fourth chapter of the Kung Fu Panda saga hold answers about their whereabouts? Or is it all up to Po to resolve the tension while simultaneously taking on his new responsibilities as a spiritual leader?
