Kpop Music Videos of August 2023 We Loved to Watch

Jeon Somi Fast Forward MV (August 7, 2023)

Somi from The Black Label (YG Entertainment) made her long-awaited comeback with EP Game Plan this month, which was led by the aforementioned titular track, and it sees the singer ‘Fast Forward’ ahead and take matters of the heart into her own hands while completely transforming from her usual adorable Barbie persona to becoming Badass Barbie.

She also came out with another video for a song from the same album, Fxxked Up, on August 2, furthering the concept ahead and establishing her one-of-a-kind identity, emerging from a broken relationship with intimidating style.

V Love Me Again MV (August 9, 2023)

V of BTS, aka Kim Taehyung from BigHit Music (HYBE Labels), and his baritone shine (quite literally too since the artist is seen sporting a resplendent golden body suit) in this smooth solo hit ahead of his debut album outside the BTS discography. Trying his best to emerge from a heartbreak, he wishes his lover “would love me again/ No, I don’t want nobody else”. The accompanying minimal guitar melodies of the tune help establish a new image of the singer.

A few days after this video dropped, the Rainy Days MV was also released on August 11, 2023, that then tapped into his minimalist artist aesthetic. Are you ready for the V Layover album releasing in September?

STAYC Bubble MV (August 16, 2023)

The High Up Entertainment sextet girl group’s comeback witnessed Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J leading their 3rd mini-album TEENFRESH with a headstrong attitude cancelling out all the hate directed at them. Bubble is an electro-pop song that oozes with confidence, much like how the girls decide to pop hate comments as if they’re all transient bubbles, in order to live by their own rules, while also learning to love themselves.

Jihyo Killin Me Good MV (August 18, 2023)

Jihyo of TWICE (JYP Entertainment) kicking off her career as a soloist with a panache that’s too hot to handle. The TWICE singer maps out the different stages of a sweet relationship that eventually falls apart with a bitter separation. She charges the video with oomph and makes heartbreak look sexy.

AKMU Love Lee MV (August 21, 2023)

The YG Entertainment sibling duo of Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Su-hyun finally came back with their vibrant and uncomplicated song about love that seeks to reignite the listeners’ faith in the warmhearted feelings associated with love. Their song will push you back into the romanticised vision of how love makes everything seem beautiful and perfect, because sometimes we all need this goodness in our lives.

SEVENTEEN Ima Even if the World Ends Tomorrow MV (August 23 KST)

This OT13 squad from Pledis Entertainment (HYBE Labels) is longer afraid of facing the end of the world scenario as long as they have each other. In their new Japanese song from their first ‘Best of’ album, though they race away from impending doom, their lighthearted anthem imparts a sense of safety by relying on the importance of the present moment, having your loved ones by your side, and living without any fear or regrets.

NCT 2023 Golden Age MV (August 23, 2023)

Ahead of the NCT 2023 comeback, SM Entertainment’s grand roster’s 4th album of the same name, the group has pre-released one of their title tracks to create buzz around the much-anticipated event featuring all members of each sub-unit (NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, NCT U, NCT DoJaeJung).

Much like the lightheartedness of winter ballads, Golden Age‘s piano melody is uplifting and sentimental, providing the members with a worthy musical backdrop for them to profoundly talk about their shared dreams and aspirations for the future. But like all signature NCT song, the calm eventually dissolves into the signature twist, fleshing into the high octane action vibe, but musically.

Their second title track video, Baggy Jeans by the famous 7th sense NCT U sub-unit, will also be released this month on August 28, 2023.

XG NEW DANCE MV (August 23, 2023)

The ‘Xtraordinary Girls’ from XGALX show us their ’New Dance’ kicks in the lead single of their first ever mini album New DNA. The Korea-based multinational girl group knows the right way to “slide with (their) girls to the party” with a quintessential pop sound that is both catchy and groovy regardless of its common-sounding pop base, again reminding us that sometimes cliches aren’t too bad after all.

BLACKPINK The Game OST The Girls MV (August 25, 2023)

The YG Entertainment quartet has dropped their first new song of the year. Releasing the OST for their video game, the BLACKPINK members are seen in new avatars as their MV changes gears and catch them in their animated counterpart visions donning outfits that may remind BLINKs of their old snazzy style from How You Like That.
