Komi Can’t Communicate Episode 7 Review- Plot and Characters

Komi Can't Communicate Episode 7 Tadano Komi

Every slice-of-life anime must go through a rite of passage before receiving its certification as an anime of that ilk- the beach episode. Not all slice-of-life do it (looking at you, Clannad), but most at least have a substitution for the episode where everyone gathers up together to look at cute girls and take in the sun. We reached that point with Komi, as we made plans to visit a water park towards the end of the last episode. As such, this was the water-oriented episode of Komi-san.

Everything you would ever wish for in an episode such as this in a series like Komi, you saw. Komi’s swimsuit took everyone’s breath away even as she struggled to even be in the same room as everyone else. There were a bunch of games and activities inside the water, which were all either hilarious or heartwarming. There was even some conflict, as there is bound to happen, and the show resolved with a lot of expertise.

While Komi-san Episode 7 was mostly fun and games, it also did a masterful job in providing each character with a lot of time to shine. It gave almost everyone some much-needed exposition, especially to characters like Ren, who desperately ended something more to their personalities other than being crazy and obsessed with Komi. Najimi and Agari have found their niches in the show and fulfil their roles to perfection, especially Najimi, who would be the best character in the show if it wasn’t for Tadano or Komi.

Speaking of Komi, Komi san Episode 7 showcased her sweet, lovely and above all, precious personality. She is well aware of her shortcomings and doesn’t want everyone else to suffer because of her while being praised and worshipped by everyone surrounding her. There is no difference in that portrayal of her, but looking at her enjoying herself after being repressed and quiet for so long is positively heartwarming. I will watch the show if it’s just Komi going through life on her own. Everything else is just a bonus.

We also had a look at Komi’s father for the first time, and one would have already figured that that’s where she got her personality from. Shouko Komi is the spitting image of her mother, but her mother is the polar opposite of her personality. Her mother is a social butterfly and not the anxious ball of cuteness Shouko is. Her father, meanwhile, is one, and their interactions are adorable. Seriously, this episode is just precious.

Komi Can’t Communicate Episode 7 Review- Art and Music

Everything looked fantastic, and I’m running out of words to describe how good this show is. A lot fewer manga panel-like animations in this outing, but that much is expected given the episode is mostly action and manga panels don’t do that very well. The look and sound of Komi Can’t Communicate Episode 7 was phenomenal, and there’s not much else to say about it today.

Verdict

Komi Can’t Communicate Episode 7 was unbelievably precious and gorgeous to look at. It is Komi inside a water park, what else did you expect?
