Falling in love is scary, and THE NEW SIX (TNX) embrace this bittersweet sensation in their latest Kick It 4 Now MV that leads their third mini album BOYHOOD’s tracklist. Yet, as soon as the inevitable poignant feeling takes over their hearts, they can’t stop themselves from admitting that it was all fate’s work and meant to be after all.
With the new meaning of love conquering their hearts and minds, the melody so produced is a refreshing one that “feels like home”, much the lyrics of their new summer pop song that’s bound to take the lead as a summer anthem. The new emotions in question seemed to have set the members free and they express the same sentiment through this track, and one could say it “smells like teen spirit”.
All 6 members – Taehun, Kyungjun, Hyunsoo, Junhyeok, Hwi and Sungjun – put on a performance that screams of nostalgia due to its reminiscence of 90s or early 2000s boy band music style. With well coordinated outfits that accord them the look of a tight-knit squad and similar chic hairstyles, the unofficially nicknamed “PSY’s boy band” will instantly remind you of boy bands like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, but with a summery twist to their sound.

The rookie P NATION boy group’s Kick It 4 Now music video dropped on June 7, 2023, at 6PM KST, and it captures the members’ key choreography on three different locations – a Back to the Future-esque set that hints at the futuristic vision, a beach, and a carnival. Other than the overt message of love often spoken of in songs, it also carries a deeper message about the members sticking it out with each other though thick and thin, their memories of the past and how their bubbling friendship contributed to their camaraderie upon finally debuting as a music act in May 2022.
Despite not sharing any similarities, the sextet can be heard making promises of meeting together in the next life as well as they eventually discovered that they’re not too different either. Rising nostalgia about their shared past has allowed them to be their real selves with each other and “Kick it” together as a found-family. The “young and free” aspect reflected in the lyrics is further extended to their carefree and addictive dance routine as well, which will get you grooving along with them in the blink of an eye.
The BOYHOOD title track produces a familiar melody that lets you sink your toes in an experience that tastes like deja vu. And while, some may consider for a second that this sense of familiarity could’ve dragged the comeback down miserably, it does the exact opposite of that. It rather helps the boys achieve a warm place in the listener’s heart, who’s deeply and affectionately craving for the old days, and so, the song takes you on a ride through all your past experiences that lit up your face with a blinding smile.
