Khakee: The Bihar Chapter Review
Khakee is a fascinating story of corruption in Bihar and the efforts of one man against it all. Stories based in Bihar aren’t new for us, and neither is its depiction of corruption and a lot of swearing. Thus, Khakee isn’t really anything new. And no, it doesn’t really have anything to do with the 2004 movie.
With an impressive cast who don’t stop at delivering really good performances, Khakee is extremely watchable. Although you’d expect the pacing of the story to make you breathless at every moment, the series is surprisingly slow and takes its time creating the world in Bihar and making us comfortable in Amit’s shoes as he adjusts and quickly finds the pace in his new environment which has a mind of its own.

Personally, I think the pacing is perfect. The fact that it takes its time and doesn’t rush the process makes watching the intense moments all the more watchable. As you sit there wondering what happens next, the fast-paced action sequences come as a breath of fresh air and will keep you hooked. Although the story is quite simple most of the time, Khakee‘s sprinkle of twists and turns makes the series just a tad bit complicated, making it an easy-breezy watch as a whole.
As more and more characters are introduced, and the core conflict comes to light, Khakee makes you interested and reels you in with its world-building. However, I found the subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) pinching of caste to be the most interesting part of Khakee. Although yes, a story on Bihar (apparently) can’t exist without caste slowly creating a ruckus in the background, there’s something so interesting about how Amit must arrest someone belonging to the Rajput caste to clear his name in the department that really got to me.
The world in Khakee can’t exist without caste, and neither can it exist without corruption and the police sucking up to politicians. It’s not like you see people being Disney-villain evil, and thus, the bad guys seem relatable and real. The gun-toting Chandan isn’t the only one creating a ruckus in the state, it’s also everyone around Amit.

The series is a great watch. Although it is literally nothing new, and you’d be able to figure out what exactly is going on and where the story is going, the series still creates an effective and thrilling runtime that keeps you guessing. Although the predictability of the story can get to you sometimes, the series throws in some very shocking moments here and there that will keep you on your toes.
Performances are solid throughout the series. Tacker and Tiwary are excellent in Khakee and feel like they are made for their respective roles. All of the actors bring reality to their roles and are at the right place at the right time. Abhimanyu Singh is great as well, but man, Jatin Sarna’s sex talk just takes the oddest cake.
Summing Up

If you’re in the mood for something shocking and twisted but still relatable, Khakee should be on your watchlist. Although the series is quite predictable, it still delivers some neat twists that will keep you entertained.
Khakee: The Bihar Chapter is streaming on Netflix.
