Karoline Leavitt Shows Off Trump’s McDonald’s Order — But Netizens Aren’t Buying It

As the youngest press secretary in White House history, Karoline Leavitt has frequently defended President Donald Trump’s statements and policies. Her consistent support for the president has drawn criticism online, though she has continued to publicly back him.

A similar situation unfolded when Leavitt took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of Trump receiving a DoorDash delivery outside the Oval Office, which included items from McDonald’s. In her post, she highlighted the administration’s “No Tax on Tips” policy, writing: “President Trump just received a McDonald’s delivery order from a DoorDash driver outside the Oval Office! Thanks to President Trump signing No Tax on Tips into law, Sharron is using the $11,000 in tips that she made last year to support her family.”

Social media users, however, questioned the authenticity of the video, with some describing it as “rehearsed” and a “publicity stunt.” “That $100 tip she got for this staged delivery is going into her gas tank because of the [high] gas prices brought on by Trump’s illegal war,” wrote one user.

Leavitt also reposted another message offering context about the delivery driver. The post stated “Sharon Simmons [said] Trump’s elimination of taxes on tips has changed her life” as the policy change helped her financially, noting that the tips she earned last year contributed toward medical expenses, including her husband’s cancer treatment, as well as family travel.

Critics in the replies argued that broader policy decisions have affected healthcare access, referencing reported cuts to federal research funding. Some users claimed such decisions had indirect consequences for patients relying on treatment advancements, though these claims remain part of an ongoing political debate.

Several responses included strong language criticizing the administration’s policies and economic conditions. Others, however, expressed support for Trump and praised the “No Tax on Tips” initiative as beneficial for service workers.

A bunch of comments also pointed out an interesting detail regarding the old DoorDash woman being actually a MAGA plant. As one user commented, “Actually, at first I felt sorry for #GrandmaDoorDash as she could not afford healthcare for her husband with cancer, BUT it turns out #GrandmaDoorDash is a plant. A paid GOP operative. They shipped door dash woman to a Nevada hearing last year. She’s the MAGA paid prop. Everything they do is a con.”

With criticism outweighing supportive responses on the post, it remains unclear how the administration will continue to promote similar messaging in the future.
