Joker 2 New Stills: Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga Look Dead Serious

Joker 2 new stills show the lead actors of the film, Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in a serious captivating look. Also known as Joker: Folie à Deux, it’s an upcoming musical thriller film which is directed by Todd Phillips and based on DC Comics’ character. The screenplay is co-written by Scott Silver & Phillips who also shared the new stills from the film.

Taking it to Instagram, Phillips shared the news of the film shoot wrapping up finally and thanked the cast and the ‘BEST crew’ that the film industry has to offer, from top to bottom. He further said he is ‘gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together’ to bring the whole film on one page.

In the stills, we can see Lady Gaga’s character aka Harley Quinn looking straight into the camera with a titled gaze and smudged makeup. It suggests that she is coming back after a rough night and is standing in an elevator of sorts. It has been said that her character will be a psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum who falls in love with Arthur.

The sequel film will pick up with Phoenix’s killer clown after he’s been admitted to Arkham Asylum and the place he meets Quinn. In the new still, Arthur Fleck is seen in his Joker attire and makeup, looking out of the window. His expressions look of contemplation as he seems to be thinking about how he reached this place in life.

Ever since the project was revealed, Phillips has been teasing with some spoiler stills from the film. Like previously he shared a picture of Arthur getting a shave in presumably Arkham Asylum, despite his resistance. And in another still which was posted on Valentine’s Day, we see an emotional and intimate moment between Arthur & Quinn as they hold each other’s faces closely.

Apart from the leads, Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey have been cast in various roles whose details are not shared yet. It was earlier reported that the second part of the title – Folie à Deux, refers to a shared delusional disorder in two persons closely associated with one another.

Also, Joker’s only real companion other than Batman anyway has been Quinn, a character first created for Batman: The Animated Series in the early 1990s. So the film will be exploring their dynamics and what all ensues as they come together. With the film being a musical, many fans are also expecting a great musical track to come out of the film, featuring Lady Gaga.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to be theatrically released on 4th October 2024.
