Insomniacs After School is a romance and drama anime based on a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Ojiro. The series is animated by Studio LIDENFILMS and is also known as Kimisomu Episode 7 and Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia Episode 7 in original Japanese.
The Astronomy Club suffered a terrible tragedy when one of its members committed suicide some time ago. The club and where they used to work, the observatory, are all lying empty without use. It is the perfect scenario for two outsiders who don’t know a better use for their time to accidentally meet and go on a journey that would change their lives forever. They haven’t lived much of their lives, to begin with, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Grumpy insomniac Ganta Nakami stumbles across the moderately rebellious yet easygoing Isaki Magari in the Astronomy Club’s abandoned observatory. Magari is surprised and tries to avoid a confrontation, only to be stopped by a broken door, forcing the two of them inside. The two forge an unlikely friendship, leading them to use the observatory as a safe space for them to interact and discuss the one thing that ails them both- inability to sleep.

Ganta is certainly now lacking in enthusiasm and gumption, but the lack of a formal tutor and having to rely mostly on himself is causing him issues that he didn’t foresee. Fear not, because Magari is here to help!

We saw the show’s characters come out in a show of numbers and strength in the previous episode, and that is going to continue in this episode. Now that they are involved with the club, it is going to be hard to get them away from its matters. Most of them mean well and are going to be nothing but helpful. However, One of them is an agent of chaos no matter how much the show tries to pretend she is a diligent worker. I am onto you, Motoko! I’ve got my eyes on you!

Ryu finds the observatory sweltering in the heat, and Ganta is still doing his best to learn more about what he needs to do to put on a show that would allow the astronomy club to survive. He recruits the help of his sole friend to plan for it, and the trio learn that they will need a lot more help for this than they currently have. They begin recruiting and visit all of Magari’s friends for help with their event and are able to get all of them.
