The new season of Netflix’s Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons is streaming now on the platform. Hosted by British journalist and wrongly convicted prisoner Raphael Rowe, the series features him taking a first-hand look at the most dangerous correctional facilities around the globe.
Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons Season 6 has a total of four episodes, with an average length of forty-four minutes each. With Olivia LaRoche serving as the executive producer for the series.

The premise of this season is similar to the last ones. Host Raphael Rowe introduces the danger-filled prison and gives a detailed brief about its worst elements. He later pinpoints the course of the criminal activity responsible for the prison population. And eventually enters the prison to feel, analyze and get familiar with the on-ground tension.

The common element with all the episodes is the unprecedented control of prison gangs. The self-formulated ideologies rule the inner working of the correction facility, which often overpower the system. Surprisingly, it turns out to be the most peaceful way of dealing with things by letting the inmates decide their own conflicts. However, there are obvious flaws in the mechanism.
The series is also a commentary about the state of correctional facilities. It throws light on the broken system of rehabilitation and the tedious rate of progress that follows it. Furthermore, there are several moments that will make you question the impending nature of the judiciary.
Much similar to the Greenland Maximum security prison in the last season, the second episode takes you inside Cyprus’s Utopian prison. Not only it changes the perspective of rehabilitation, but it also provides a tonal shift in the series.
The storyline of each episode features the host inside the maximum security prison of Moldova, Cyprus, Bosnia, and Greece. The host makes his way into the cell each time and gets introduced to the gang culture.
At first, he is intimidated by the gang members who are not interested in having long conversations. He also gets warned about the code of conduct inside the cell, which is completely different from outside. Sooner or later, Raphael gets them into a deep conversation about their past and present.

The very thought of gang laws operating inside the prison is a daunting one. However, there are some prisoners who want to change for the better. They have plans after serving their time, all of which they share with the host.
There are moments that are bound to give you the chills. But all in all, an atmosphere of safety comes as a trademark of the show. The purpose of the series is not to scare you often but to reveal the complete mechanism of correction facilities and the rehabilitation process.
In the end, the series does a great job of educating the viewer about the prison system. It also makes you empathetic with the victims of delayed justice and even restores a strong faith in rehabilitation.
Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons Season 6 Final Verdict
The whole series is must watch, but the latest season takes it up a notch. It educates and informs about the topic in concern without any sensationalism or drama. Moreover, it will prove to be a gritty and gripping binge.
