Infiesto Ending Explained
From what we know after watching the film, detective Samuel had tracked down the place where the cult leader lived, which made him furiously leave for the hunch, without any proper backup. The only one who came to his assistance was the local cop, Ramos.
Ultimately, detective Samuel was shocked when Detective Castro informed him over the phone that the local cop he was with was actually the cult leader, Ramos. The entire case had taken a dark turn, and the idea that someone so close to them was responsible for such horrific crimes was both shocking and revealing. However, Samuel was determined to bring Ramos to justice, even if it meant putting himself in harm’s way.
The eventual standoff between Samuel and Ramos was short-lived, as Ramos proved to be too quick for the former. In a split second, Ramos pulled the trigger, killing Samuel before he had the chance to fire his weapon. Detective Castro, who had been rushing to the scene, arrived only to find his partner dead in the rain.
The loss of Samuel was devastating for Detective Castro. She had lost a partner and a friend, and the knowledge that Ramos was responsible for his death only fueled her rage. Which led her to track him down in the tunnel of the city, and witness the gory avatar of Ramos in person.
Notably, the cult leader had convinced himself that he was a prophet, chosen by a higher power to carry out the abductions and rituals. The young girls were merely sacrifices to appease his deity. And in the end, Castro could feel the tension as the two of them faced off, with their weapons drawn.
In the end, she fired at Ramos, determined to bring him to justice for the crimes he had committed. Moreover, the cult leader failed to beat the agility of the cop, and Ramos crumpled to the ground, dead.
As Detective Castro emerged from the tunnel and looked out at the city, she couldn’t help but think about the end of the world. The events of the last few days had been like a metaphor for the end of days, with good and evil battling for control of the city. Which is something that Castro repeats in the last few frames of the movie.
