Idol I Episode 4 Recap

The episode starts, and we get to see how there had been dating rumours regarding Ra-ik and a trainee in the past. Fans, including Se-na, were absolutely devastated by this information, but they all calmed down when they got to know that Ra-ik actually denied the dating rumours. Obviously, his die-hard fans believed him, and they all thought that he had been single since. However, here, Se-na realises how it has been a lie, and he was in fact in a relationship with Hye-joo. Se-na also learns that there is some dramatic history going on between them, which is why she only observes them and does nothing.

This entire revelation naturally makes Se-na very sad because she had been a fan, and fans can become too emotionally attached to their idols. She understands and realises how this is not a very healthy way to think, and that is why, even though she remains dejected, she makes it a point to treat Ra-ik as her client and nothing more. Sadly, trouble does not leave them as a picture of Ra-ik and ex becomes viral online, and Ra-ik goes to the journalist to confront him about it.

It becomes clear that the journalist is the one who found out that Hye-joo has been cheating on Ra-ik. But so that she does not get shamed publicly, Ra-ik actually paid the hefty price that he never once mentioned to anyone. A scuffle ensues between the journalist and Ra-ik, and that is when Se-na comes to handle the situation. After this, Ra-ik truthfully tells Se-na everything regarding why he had been avoiding Hye-joo ever since she came back to Korea. He even fought with Woo-seong because of her, and that was something that was seen by Jae-hee.

After this conversation, things become a bit clearer between Se-na and Ra-ik. Ra-ik tells her that he is never going to get back together with his ex and would want her identity to be protected, nevertheless. Se-na also understands that they are in a strictly professional relationship and promises to help him out. As Ra-ik is living with Se-na, the living conditions are making them naturally closer. But this is something that Sa-na is not at all comfortable with, as her heart wavers constantly.

She struggles because he knows that she will never be able to be with her idol, and this kind of feeling is so natural in reality as well. In the end, Ra-ik and Se-na go to meet Byung-gyun, and Se-na completely impresses and angers him with her wit. He also reveals that he knows she is the one whom he bullied, and we can see some tension rising between them.

Though this is a k-drama, it very nicely portrays this inner turmoil that goes on within Se-na, who is so close to the love of her life, yet she knows she will never be able to actually be with him. This is what happens to most K-pop fans who truly give their heart out to the stars and become too invested in their lives. However, it is nice to see Se-na handling the situation properly.
