So, when talking about International Women’s Day 2023, why not talk about these badasses in cinematic history who have truly rocked everyone’s world with their presence?

We have a list of the six most iconic female villain characters in movies and series who stood the test of time and passed with flying colours, making us love them more than we expected to. Check out the list below!

6 Most Iconic Female Villains Everyone Loves

Amy Dunne- Gone Girl

If Rosamund Pike’s Amy Dunne is not the first thing in your head when talking about this list, then there might be a problem that oughts to be addressed. Based on Gillian Flynn’s book of the same name, the film revolves around Amy, who happens to be the main protagonist as well as the antagonist of the story. She is the wife of Nick Dunne and goes missing on their fifth anniversary which essentially kicks starts the storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seats. With Pike’s performance and Flynn’s character development marrying each other in harmony, there can be no one better to start this list with.

Catherine Tramell- Basic Instinct

Before there was an Amy Dunne, there existed a Catherine Tramell who turned out to be both the protagonist and antagonist in the 1992 film Basic Instinct. A neo-erotic thriller, Sharon Stone completely nailed playing the role of Tramell who made us bleed at every turn with suspense and sensuality. The story centres around the investigation of the murder of a famous rock star by detective Curran played by Michael Douglas, who becomes entangled with Tramell.

Regina George- Mean Girls

If mean was a person, it would have to be Rachel McAdams’ Regina George from Mean Girls. She is surely the star and the moment and there can never be a Mean Girls reference without pulling her into it. Although Regina was the main antagonist of the story and the proper plastic one can think of, her typical nature made her funny, relatable and, a clever villain. Her influence and confidence can never be upped and she might just be the most iconic character on this list.

Villanelle- Killing Eve

A Phoebe Waller-Bridge script can never have a bad female character and, we are convinced of it! Villanelle from Killing Eve is the evidence in point because, even though, she is an assassin for The Twelve and, essentially the main antagonist of the show, there is an undying love the fandom has for her. Her attraction and admiration towards Eve is, sure, a reason but, as a character Villanelle is so nuanced and well-developed that you can’t do anything but, fall head over heels for her.

O-Ren Ishii- Kill Bill: Vol 1

A Deadly Viper Assassin who killed us with her looks and intelligence. Kill Bill might have a lot of bad guys and girls but, O-Ren Ishii aka Cottonmouth has to be Tarantino’s most beloved and smart villainous creation. The queen of the Toyko Underworld was depicted by Lucy Liu.

Cruella de Vil- Cruella

A villain as old as time and always reinvented to make it better is Cruella de Vil. Yes, she wasn’t as attractive, to begin with but, Emma Stone’s recent representation of her in the 2021 movie of the same name really sweep us off our feet because it had more to do with fashion and revenge than hurting animals and, this is a transformation we truly believe in!
