Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 15 Recap

The episode opens with us seeing what happened to Eun-so on the night Jo-gyun “died”. Having discovered their father’s truth, Eun-seo tried to run away from Se-hyun but was caught by Jo-gyun and, in a fight, Eun-seo pushed Jo-gyun over the cliff.

Back in the present, Se-hyun grows restless thinking about Se-eun’s whereabouts while the police hold an emergency meeting to address what to do next. Kim Jin-rae is convinced of putting Se-hyun in jail and calling it a day, but the others push back on it. Jung-hyun walks into the meeting just then and makes a strong case against framing the wrong person, and is backed by everyone else. In the end, Jin-rae has no option but to comply.

In a tragic twist, Jo-gyun kills Se-eun, while the police team rush against time to figure out what to do after they get her bloody clothes delivered to the precinct. As they are sent out the clothes to forensics, Joon-kyung learns that she won’t be replacing Myung-kwan at the lab and is left devastated. At the hospital, Jung-kyung asks Se-hyun about the clothes, and she finally tells him that Jo-gyun had come to the hospital earlier to pick her up. She begs to be let out to save Se-eun or find her body, but Jung-hyun refuses to let her be harmed.

The police eventually learn that the blood on the uniform is an adult’s and rush to the scene of the crime, hoping to catch Jo-gyun red-handed. At the hospital, Se-hyun makes a daring escape while the police find the journalist dead in Jo-gyun’s house. Elsewhere, a desperate Jo-gyun kills the owner of a boat in order to make room for himself and Se-hyun to make a rushed exit.

Well, what a tragic twist this was. With the walls closing in, Jo-gyun is in a race against time, but in a way, so is everyone. Jo-gyun, Se-hyun and Jung-hyun are tied by the same thread of fate that refuses to loosen its grip, and viewers will find themselves on edge as the heartbreak comes crashing down one after another. However, I just can’t ignore the fact that Se-hyun’s character is written in the most frustrating way, where the character arc makes no discernible sense. Although she’s more talkative now, she continues to make the same mistakes repeatedly, hoping for different results. It’s beyond frustrating, and I can’t help but feel extremely annoyed every time.
