Hunter With a Scalpel Episode 10 Recap

The episode opens with Se-hyun breaking down on her way back home, reminiscing about Jung-hyun mentioning Eun-seo’s name. She eventually gets even more bad news and rushes to the hospital to see her mother. It’s a sweet moment as she thinks back to her mother giving her the engraved scalpel while the police try to figure out Se-hyun’s role in this serial killing.

Much to everyone’s horror, Su-yeon lets them know that the blood found in the home is Kwon Hyung-jo’s and the scalpel found at the scene has Se-hyun’s engraving on it. The information leaves all the officers horrified and confused. At the hospital, as she is about to leave, Se-hyun finds a book underneath her pillow and is horrified to realise that her father has visited her mother at some point.

The police, meanwhile, rush to the hospital to catch Se-hyun, while, in the book, she gets a bill from Yongchuan Cleaning and Laundry addressed to Won-hee. Not able to catch her, the police go through her home and her stuff and find something absolutely horrifying in her rented house. Meanwhile, Jung-hyun visits the location of the blue barrel case and finds the room where Se-hyun was locked in. Inside is a bloody scene with incomplete shoe prints, and Jung-hyun immediately thinks back to Jo-gyun.

Elsewhere, evading the police, Se-hyun meets her father, and the two get into a fight at the end of which he knocks her unconscious.

Hunter With a Scalpel is a particularly odd show. It’s extremely interesting when it wants to be, but also oddly stupid and frustrating. I like the direction the story is taking – time is running out and Se-hyun has to come up with a way to evade the police and get her revenge against the man who has not only destroyed her childhood, but also taken her beloved sister from her. I get it. I will even go out on a limb and mention that I like Se-hyun’s character; she’s morally ambiguous and has a lot going on in her head.

What I don’t get is the choice that Se-hyun constantly makes to go up against her father and end up in a worse position every time! It’s so frustrating! In episode 10, too, she makes the same decision and while I am thrilled about Jung-hyun trying to nab her while also struggling to connect the dots between the person he knows and what Se-hyun has done, I feel like telling the truth would’ve made less of an impact on her life than whatever choice she is making. She is a criminal now!

I mean, I don’t get the motivation sometimes, especially when, after all this, she is eventually knocked out unconscious and framed anyway!
