5 Horror Comedy Anime Like Dandadan That Fans Will Love

Horror Comedy Anime Like Dandadan- Dandadan is making waves in the anime community with its unique plot, quirky characters, and ability to exceed expectations. Every episode has managed to produce something fresh, and not once do you feel bored. Although it has only been a few episodes since its release, it is already being hailed as one of the best of 2024.

Thus, keeping Dandadan‘s popularity in mind, in this list, we look at some of the best anime out there, which successfully blend horror with comedy. These two genres are very difficult to merge, and we see these shows achieving that stage quite successfully.

5 Horror Comedy Anime Like Dandadan That Fans Will Love

Dorohedoro

Dorohedoro is the definition of a show that can make you uncomfortable, on the one hand, but also make you laugh with its bizarreness on the other. You will be shocked and confused by the first episode, making you question the things you will see in the show.

The story revolves around a dark and desolate place called Hole, whose inhabitants live a lawless life. They are preyed on by powerful magic users who use them for inhumane experiments and then leave them mutilated and disfigured. Amidst this, we meet Caiman, a man on a hunt for the one who cursed him with a reptile head and disjointed memories.

Sankarea

On top of being a solid horror comedy, this one also pulls off romance beautifully. The story revolves around a zombie fanatic who manages to revive his dead cat with a resurrection potion. Thanks to his invention, he also gets to have a zombie girlfriend in a horrifyingly unconventional way.

However, apart from the interesting story, the animation will also draw you in with its uniqueness. The series tackles some intense and unsettling themes, yet it skillfully weaves in moments of comedy.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

If you are into zombies and would love to see a funny yet gory representation of the genre, this one is for you. The premise itself is absurd, coupled with the sad yet outrageous situation of the main lead.

Akira was an enthusiastic man ready to climb the corporate ladder until he realised he was in a black company that made his life a living hell.

Almost like a zombie, Akira would tirelessly work, praying for his life’s end. However, his wishes come true in a dreadful manner when the world faces a zombie apocalypse.

Mieruko-chan

This is another anime that you would definitely like if you loved Dandadan. Miko is the unluckiest high schooler ever, and she happens to gain a power she hates to the core. She can see the undead in their monstrous and dreadful glory and has no other option but to ignore them.

However, overlooking the presence of these terrifying creatures is easier said than done when she can clearly notice them walking around messing with others. To avoid becoming their target, she must successfully pretend she knows nothing, leading to a series of hilarious and tense encounters.

Ghost Stories (Dub)

This series wouldn’t have made the cut on this list based solely on its story or characters. However, its English dub has become a cult classic, transforming it into a comedy goldmine. Since then, we do not think any list of horror comedies would be complete without mentioning this.

Let’s be clear, the story is an absolute disaster that even tanked in its home country, Japan. But have faith and just watch the downright unhinged and outrageously funny dubbed version, where the voice actors throw caution to the wind and say just about anything. It is worth your time!

So, this was our list of horror comedy anime like Dandadan that fans will love. Which of these are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments.
