Hijack Episode 6 Review: How Many Deaths is Too Many Deaths?

Hijack Episode 6 Review: Sam Nelson surely didn’t expect to put his expertise into effect in such a situation. He is basically the sole person standing between the hijackers and the passengers onboard flight KA29. With less than an hour before the plane enters British airspace, the ground staff has to figure out a way to make sure that the flight lands. But this time, the stakes are as high as they can be.

Hijack is a fast-paced thriller written by George Kay and directed by Jim Field Smith. The show stars Idris Elba as Sam Nelson, along with Neil Maskell, Ben Miles, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Archie Panjabi, and Christine Adams.

Hijack Episode 6 Recap

Sam’s son Kai manages to hide from the couple of guys who have broken into his father’s house. Making as little sound as possible, he calls up the emergency police services, who set out on their way.

Edgar Janssen and John Bailey-Brown are released, and their condition is that if they are followed, people on KA29 will die. But CTC London acts smart and sends Daniel and another officer after them. Within half an hour, CTC receives the image of a dead female crew member. Daniel pulls back. Heathrow ATC prepares to clear the path of KA29, which is about to enter British airspace in an hour.

A news reporter named Felix is threatened with exposure unless he shares the word about the hijack of KA29 with the share market, which would then see a fall in the shares of Kingdom Airlines and its insurance company Macmillan Doyle. The organized crime unit has certainly got things pretty organized.

On Flight KA29, Sam has managed to convince Stuart to send a picture of the dead crew member (who died at the beginning) to Edgar. This way, no one else would have to die. Unfortunately, a godforsaken roadblock makes Edgar think that the cops are doing it to slow him down. He orders for another dead body.

Stuart receives Edgar’s message. Sam decides that the matter cannot be allowed to move ahead on its own and spreads the message that they have to take control of the flight. A fight ensues, and amid the chaos, Captain Robin Allen is shot dead by a woman (hitherto unknown) who then walks into the cockpit and locks herself in.

Hijack Episode 6 Review

I have to hand it to the creators for giving each episode a nice cliffhanger that serves as a strong reason to wait for the next episode to arrive. The duration of the episode seems to lessen as the events are fast-paced and do not let go of our attention and concentration. The show has managed to establish itself in such a way that doesn’t allow its viewers to turn their heads because if they do, they might miss something crucial. This especially holds for me.

As for the ending, we do not know who the woman is who shot the Captain and took control of the cockpit. Has she been a backup for Stuart all the time? Or is she someone else? Where are Edgar and John headed now? What will be CTC’s next course of action?

The new episode is now streaming on Apple TV+.
