The episode begins with Chobei coming face-to-face with Rien, who is curious to see how the situation will unfold. Elsewhere, Fuchi and Asagiri question Mei about both Tensen and her own identity. Meanwhile, Benimaru challenges the strongest members of his group to attack him at once, hoping to sharpen his abilities through combat.

Although his memories have returned, he quickly realizes that his strength still falls short against his foes. During the assault, he gains a crucial understanding of how Tao truly functions, a power he must learn to wield. However, he also acknowledges a harsh truth: defeating his enemies will be extremely difficult, as they have already mastered Tao far beyond him.

At the same time, Chobei is taken prisoner by Rien and restrained against his will. Ignoring Chobei’s consent, Rien performs Bochu jutsu on him, seeking answers about the island’s secrets. It also gets revealed that the superhuman beings inhabiting the island are working to create a powerful elixir, which is the very reason so many people were lured there.

The episode begins with an introduction to the new troop that is coming to the island. It includes four eminent samurai from the Asaemon clan, including Shugen. Shugen is said to be the strongest within the clan and also a bit odd as a character. Apart from him, we also have a group of ninjas who come from Benimaru’s village. There are also a bunch of suspicious ninjas who came to help with the mission, but it is set in stone that they should not be trusted.

Apparently, they have a hidden agenda, which is to kill Benimaru as soon as possible. They do not care about the elixir or the samurai and are on the island with the sole goal of locating their enemy and executing him. On the other hand, we see just how complex Shugen is as a samurai. All the other Asaemon samurai, including Sagiri, speak very highly of him, claiming that he is a kind-hearted man. She even had a small crush on him while starting out as a samurai.

However, it becomes clear that behind his kind mask, Shugen hides a ruthless element within himself, as he does not care about anyone. There was a time when he executed many innocent people just because they were associated with someone who had done wrong. Thus, in his dictionary, everything is either good or bad, and anything that he deems is not good, he will kill it without question. This strictness towards everyone, including his own subordinates, makes him a decisive adversary who will most likely be a very problematic obstacle for Benimaru and others.

I genuinely loved today’s episode because it finally brings all the major players together in one place, making the stakes higher than ever. Benimaru and his team have now settled on a concrete escape plan, and from this point onward, they operate with a stronger sense of unity.

Their primary objective is to secure the elixir, which represents a chance at freedom for the criminals through a royal pardon. With the goal now clearly defined, the story is entering a decisive phase.
