Hello Love Again Review
The plot of the film follows the lives of Joy and Ethan after the former leaves for Canada to pursue her dreams. However, life isn’t easy and soon the two face a devastating breakup. Now, years later, the two reunite and bring in a chance for old flames to reignite; but this isn’t as easy as it seems. After having faced the winds of life, have the two reached a place where they can fall in love again?
Being a sequel to the acclaimed romance film Hello, Love, Goodbye, there is no doubt that fans had their expectation up after witnessing the chemistry between the lead couple. While we can say that most of this film does sail on their relationship, I am surprised by how well it also captures other elements like the pandemic, the troubles faced by migrant workers, the importance of a community in foreign lands and more.
These elements in a way put the love part of the film behind for most of the part, making it more than just a romance film. I love how the film begins from the place where the previous movie ends and picks up everything at a pace that fits the length of the film just right. The camera beautifully captures the scenes and aesthetics of Calgary, Canada, making viewers fall in love with the place naturally. As the film progresses, you begin to see where the real problems arise from, and how they have reached a point in life where they find themselves as mature people. The maturity that they show is how some things have to be let go of for a better and happier future ahead.

On the other hand, I just have to talk about the scenes related to the hardships faced by a foreign worker who has to put up a fight each day to survive. The hardships are no joke but the strength of perseverance is clearly shown here through Joy. She slowly builds a life in a foreign land through every possible way standing in front of her and shows us the character we all fell in love with. And I love how we also see a different version of Ethan that has calmed down and come to face reality which is very different from dreams.
Moving on, I also have to bring out the way we see their lives being affected by the pandemic; the brutality of that era which left no one unharmed is shown in ways that really make me appreciate this film. These scenes captured life not just for a normal individual, but also for a foreign worker who has all roads closed in front of them. It is raw, brutal, and so well captured that it is hard to miss.
Coming back to the romance, well the ending could’ve been predictable for all because this is after all a film that is about them. Whether it is through Joy’s own conflicting feelings that make it impossible for her to see someone like Uno or the woman who throws subtle hints about where her happiness lies; we know what is going to happen.

Summing Up
Hello, Love, Again is a beautiful sequel to the Filipino romance film and brings a good end to the story of two lovers who learn to grow together. It is a good watch for romance lovers and can be given a shot on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
