Head Over Heels Episode 8 Recap

The episode opens with General Dongcheon performing a ritual on Yeom Hwa when we learn about their past – Yeom Hwa wanted to bring her baby back from the dead, but General Dongcheon, her spirit mother, stopped her from bringing it back. In the present, General Dongcheon warns her to let the past go, otherwise her baby will never find peace. Yeom Hwa is still continuing to find her baby, resulting in bad karma and entities finding her.

Of course, Dongcheon’s attempts at saving Yeom Hwa are in vain; she refuses to listen to her. Later on, she does mention to Flower Master (Man-sik) that she did all of this on purpose to push General Dongcheon’s buttons. In reality, she won’t be going anywhere since the evil entity is nearby. Meanwhile, at school, both Gyeon-woo and Ji-ho are concerned about her relationship status with Gyeon-woo. She, too, confesses her feelings for him as they go back home, but soon enough JI-ho runs into them and tells Seong-ah that he likes her as well.

Afterwards, the three of them make a pact to talk about their feelings after Gyeon-woo is saved. That night, Gyeon-woo/Bong-su awakens during the Hour of the Ox and, after warning her to never sleep during this time frame, is called out by Yeom Hwa. It seems like even he is in love with Seong-ah! Either way, the two talk and Bong-su tells Yeom Hwa that he would like to stay in Gyeon-woo’s body for some more time. Yeom Hwa grows impatient and, funnily enough, he calls Yeom Hwa a bully!

Just then, Great Aunt arrives to call out General Dongcheon for closing the shrine and creating problems, and Yeom Hwa immediately retorts that she should’ve stabbed her in the neck instead of the eyes! Just then, Seong-ah walks in with Gyeon-woo/Bong-su, and he gets into a tiff with the elder shaman after she tries to hurt Seong-ah. Enraged, he tries to kill her, but is stopped by Seong-ah and the two rush out. Gyeon-woo plots something with Seong-ah, but doesn’t tell her at first. As it turns out, he has the sound of gunfire as his ringtone, and it leaves the menacing ghost tortured.

Everyone eventually comes to an understanding later on, and Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo go to school. He tries to search for memorial stones of student soldiers but is heartbroken to learn that they have been moved to Yuwol Park. While Yeom Hwa is left incensed, realising that she can’t break free from him due to a spell, she decides to instead get closer to him than anyone ever has. Meanwhile, Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo become each other’s Human Amulets.

The next day, Yeom Hwa, too, does a spell to bind her with Bong-su further, and Gyeon-woo feels the effects during his much-cherished competition. He realises that he can finally see ghosts.

Head Over Heels Episode 8 Review

Head Over Heels Episode 8: Choo Ja-hyun
Head Over Heels Episode 8: Choo Ja-hyun

What a delightful turn of events, especially because now I feel rather emotional for Bong-su. It’s weird that he’s somehow this horrible murderer, but is a cutie right now who’s crushing on Seong-ah. Either way, this episode is entertaining as heck because all the plots and subplots are very entertaining. Overall, a fantastic watch.
