The Princess: All About Princess Diana Based Documentary on HBO Max

If there are two things media can never get over it has to be the story of Marilyn Monroe and Diana, The Princess of Wales. These two massive ladies have for long governed the world of adaptations, documentaries, biographical dramas and more. Looks like the upcoming months are going to give us another round of stories surrounding these two influential women.

Netflix is all set to release Blonde starring Ana de Armas. HBO Max too has not held back and is going to release a documentary on Princess Diana pretty soon. HBO Max’s The Princess Plot/Synopsis

A HBO Original documentary, the description for the upcoming title reads: “The Princess is an intimate and immersive look at the life of Princess Diana. The relationship of Diana and Charles, the Prince and Princess of Wales, was tabloid fodder for nearly two decades, the subject of almost daily headlines in the 24-hour news cycle.”

The synopsis further reads, “The film draws solely from contemporaneous archival audio and video footage to take audiences back to key events in Diana’s life as they happened, including their seemingly fairy-tale public courtship and wedding, the birth of their two sons, their bitter divorce, and Diana’s tragic and untimely death on August 31, 1997.”

“Intensely emotional, The Princess is a visceral submersion into Diana’s life in the constant and often intrusive glare of the media spotlight. The film unfolds as if it were in the present, allowing viewers to experience the overwhelming adoration, but also intense scrutiny of Diana’s every move and the constant judgement of her character. Through archival material, the film is also a reflection of society at the time, revealing the public’s own preoccupations, fears, aspirations, and desires.”

As the film is going to use archival footage, thus, leaving no room for an additional cast. It is directed by the Academy Award nominee Ed Perkins (Black Sheep, Tell Me Who I Am). The film is produced by Lightbox in association with SKY, Academy Award-winner Simon Chinn (Man on Wire, Searching for Sugar Man) and Emmy-winner Jonathan Chinn (LA92, HBO’s Tina). Jinx Godfrey and Daniel Lapira serve as the editors for the project.

HBO Max’s The Princess Release Date, Trailer

The 2022 documentary film will debut on the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death i.e., August 13, 2022, on HBO Max. However, it has already had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
