Haunted Hotel Review
In Netflix’s adult animated series, we get light-hearted spooky entertainment a bit early for the spooky season. But that’s no problem, because the series, with 10 quick episodes, will leave you smiling and amused in more ways than one. Following a young family who has to take care of their family’s haunted hotel, the series offers warm family drama and crazy demons, ghosts, spirits and other ghouls that somehow all want to kill someone or the other. I guess that makes sense because, well, ghosts and all, and it makes for great entertainment throughout.
I constantly found myself chuckling at the shenanigans that everyone got into, and while being friends and running a hotel with ghouls and demons might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I think the series does a good job of showcasing that these characters all enjoy each other’s company while also disliking each other quite a lot.

I guess it made an impact on me because Kathy and her kids’ struggles felt realistic to me. She desperately needs this hotel to work in memory of her brother and family, and so she can’t sell it. It has a lot of problems that overwhelm her constantly, and her children are struggling to adjust to the move to this dilapidated house that is unfamiliar and unwelcoming. Everyone is struggling in their own ways, and viewers will find themselves invested in their issues while they learn to adjust and move on with their lives.
Meanwhile, the ghosts, on the other hand, are absolutely entertaining and quite funny. Everyone has their own little quirks that make this delightful. I loved Abaddon’s character the most, though, because he’s hilarious and so grungy! Either way, the makers clearly did a great job with the worldbuilding and the characters, as well as their family unit becomes the most entertaining part of the show. While we enjoy watching Kathy and Nathan’s relationship grow, it’s also fun to watch him with his niblings and get into shenanigans with them as well.

In the end, I think this is a light-hearted and enjoyable series that keeps you smiling till the end. There aren’t many stakes here, but the core of the show is sweet and endearing. Plus, it made me laugh quite a bit, and the horror references are on point. The voice acting is on point, and the series is a good watch because of it.
Final Thoughts

Haunted Hotel is an enjoyable watch and will leave a smile on your face. There aren’t a lot of complications to be untangled, which is great because sometimes, we all need something sweet to watch that leaves us smiling.
