Hasta la Madre del día de los Muertos, also known as Mother’s Day Is Cancelled is a Spanish comedy movie that will be premiering worldwide on Prime Video. The movie is directed by Javier Colinas and Adriana Pelusi, Ricardo Avilés and El Huevo Charlie Barrientos are credited as the writers.
Executive produced by Sandro Halphen, the story follows a newlywed couple whose families are not on very good terms with each other. The two families have only met once and they need to meet up to celebrate Mother’s Day together. However, it is not as smooth sailing and things start to get very complicated soon. Ruy Folguera gives the music and Javier Morón is the cinematographer.

The plot of the movie revolves around a couple who got married very recently, however, their families somewhat cannot stand each other’s presence. When the time comes for the two families to get together, things start to crumble soon. They meet up to celebrate Mother’s Day together certain situations lead to chaotic incidents that bridge the gap between the families further. Moreover, after a family secret is out, the celebration turns into an argument and all the bitter revelations start to erupt.
As the situation escalates, it turns extremely messy very quickly. The moments are comedic gold as petty fights take the front seat and take the audience on a fun ride. However, the movie is not just a comedy but also contains themes of family, friendship and especially motherhood. Apart from that, it also displays the bond between women and how special it it than anything else.
