Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 3 Recap

The episode starts with Catherine showing the gang a new building that is being built and announces that this will be Birdie’s new house. As everyone is left confused, she mentions that they will move the dead body beside the house, where work is still being done, so that they never have to move the body again.

In the present, Tucker questions Catherine about the affair with Gary but Tucker forgives her easily, much to her shock and confusion. Meanwhile, Alice has a hard time with her husband and the secret that she discovered. As they discuss their marital troubles, we are transported six months later, where the four are getting ready to dig up the dead body but Birdie spots someone keeping an eye on them from afar. Bretty later finds the same car following him around later.

Back to the present, Alice and Doug go to couple’s counselling where they discuss she asks him whether he did something to her dog. He accepts that he accidentally left the gate open, but when Alice brings out the gun, everyone is left dumbfounded. Meanwhile, Brett and Connor discuss swapping weekends with the kids and it’s clear that Brett feels a bit left out with him there. In the end, though, he does let the kids go with their stepfather. Meanwhile, Catherine goes through Tucker’s stuff to figure out whether he’s cheating. Of course, Tucker catches her, leaving her feeling worse than before. Meanwhile, Alice and Molly have a fight again.

Six months later, it seems like Brett and Alice are living together. He goes out to confront the guy who is tailing them and, as it turns out, Connor put a PI on him to get dirt and get his kids’ custody. In the present, Alice and Brett try to find the bullet that Doug threw away in anger and wonder whether he would do something that bad while Birdie is left confused after Ford has an allergic reaction and his adoptive mother angrily says that Joel isn’t his father.

Meanwhile, Catherine and Tucker have a heart-to-heart about their marriage and apologise for dropping the ball on their marriage. Not all, however, is good — Alice apologises to Doug for accusing him of killing Molly, but it seems like he’s had enough. Six months later, Melissa files for emergency custody of the kids after he pulled a knife on the PI, devastating him. In the present, Brett is heartbroken about his kids fishing without him and Birdie learns that Joel is Ford’s stepfather. Alice seeks comfort from Brett, probably because her marriage is over while Gary is suddenly kidnapped.

Six months later, Brett spirals when he sees a police officer at the shop investigating someone from the garden party. But the series cuts off before he can bring up his name.

Well, well, well… a dramatic and juicy episode with several ups, downs and what-ifs. The episode is quite entertaining and creates good tension to keep us watching. The fact that there can be so many people who are about to turn up murdered in 6 months is an interesting part of the series. It keeps viewers guessing and makes us question who could be the victim. Cutting from past to present and back makes us connect the dots without going through an annoying exposition dump which makes it all the more interesting.

All in all, I am really enjoying Grosse Pointe Garden Society. It’s doing a good job of keeping things moving while adding everyday life problems to the murder mix.
