Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 1 Review: This is a very interesting anime that exceeded my expectations. Here, we have a Shounen anime based on our beloved theme of Power Rangers. Let us see how the first episode went.
Go Go Loser Ranger Overview
Go Go Loser Ranger or Sentai Daishikkaku (戦隊大失格) is a manga series which is written as well as illustrated by Negi Haruba. The manga first began in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on February 3, 2021. Since then, the series has been released as individual tankōbon volumes, with the first one hitting the shelves on April 16, 2021. As of February 16, 2024, a total of thirteen volumes have been published. In November 2021, Kodansha USA announced at Anime NYC’s panel that they had secured the license for the series.
This anime is produced by Yostar Pictures and directed by Keiichi Sato. The scripts for the series are written by Keiichirō Ōchi, and the character designs are handled by Kahoko Koseki. Kenji Hayama is in charge of the animation. It’s all set to premiere on April 7, 2024, on TBS and Disney+. Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening song called “On The Next Episode”, and Nanawo Akari will perform the ending song titled “Don’t Need the Right Answer”.

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 1 Review: Who Is The Real Villain?
This one is a widely interesting anime, and from the very first episode, I know I will love it. The story is set in a bizarre world where Monsters come to Earth every Sunday to fight with the Power Rangers, who are called Dragon Keepers. This battle has been going on for more than 10 years, and till now, no conclusion has been reached.
The altercation between the Dragon Keepers and the evil army has become more of a carnival as people from all around the world, come to the stadium to witness this fight between good and evil. Not only that, but TV personalities, news reporters, and everyone come up with their own strategies and predictions as to how the Rangers will fight the villains. Will they win this time, or will the Rangers face their very first loss, and humanity will have to succumb to the evil army?
Anticipation builds, and you finally get to see the monster boss and his minions, who are as ferocious and evil as everybody deems them to be. The Rangers, who pose as a beacon of hope, are also frightened by them, and even though they let the audience know to have faith in their power, you can tell that the Rangers are also worried about the ferocious beast in front of them.
Hence, a deadly battle ensues, and you cheer on the Power Rangers who try their best to win for you. They come up with different moves, and finally, they manage to defeat the evil army once again, restoring faith in humanity. But wait a second, did I mention all of this was just a farce? Yes, the Power Rangers defeated every boss and the minions within a year of their arrival on Earth. And since then, the minions have been forced to put on this act where they lose every week. In such a setting, one might wonder who is the actual hero and who is the actual villain.
This is a very fascinating concept where we get the perspective of the villains who are clearly forced to do something they are not interested in by the heroes. Plus, you can feel how the heroes have turned this whole thing into a business, where they will enjoy unlimited fame, whereas the villains get forced to live a life of humiliation even after surrendering. And this is where one lone foot soldier comes to challenge the whole hierarchy and shake this oppressive system.
Verdict
I loved this episode, and I’m really looking forward to the next one. Lastly, I must accept the animation is also very beautiful to look at. The creators have managed to use CGI in a way that does not look tacky at all, on the contrary, it looks very good.
