Class of 09 Episode 5 Review: The Problem Is People

We are almost halfway through the series and it still feels lukewarm on so many levels. In the last episode, we saw Lennix and Poet make an escape that would have taken both of their lives but, it still wasn’t thrilling enough to keep us on the edge of our seats. The character development and the themes the show is trying to address are really good yet something feels missing. Thus, Class of 09 Episode 5 was quite a surprise.

In case you are wondering why, we are here to tell you! Love is something that is important in this episode above all in some sense, which is why it is different as no one is rushing anywhere but, things are just unfolding- things that have happened and will happen. Lennix’s love for Poet is more than established at this point and, the fans are really invested in Hour and Poet’s angle but, what of Tayo?

Well, in Class of 09 Episode 5, we see how Tayo is the one who has to answer and be accountable for all the FBI mockery that happened in the previous episode. We mean, it is a serious joke that someone is able to bomb the FBI building, right? Well, it gives Tayo just the right opening to pitch Hour’s Better Life. This idea, however, originates from a motivation in the past timeline.

We are taken back to the past to show Tayo meeting Vivienne (his wife, yes!), who was then one helluva attorney. When the class visited Martin Luther King’s childhood home, she was there and she very much called out the FBI’s system and, how faulty it is with human incompetence. We can clearly see in this episode why Tayo wifed up that lady!

Tayo’s past and pitch and Better Life coming into action are all linked. The intensity, however, comes into light in the future timeline when the class begins investigating AI.

Class of 09 Episode 5: Final Thoughts

Overall, the Class of 09 Episode 5 really gives us something different. A meet-cute turns into an eye-opener that soon becomes a tragedy- it is all unwrapped in this episode and, it is worth it. The ending is really scary and, this episode is surely the one that has increased the pacing of the series as we cannot wait to know what happens next as the control slips away.
