Holi 2024: 7 Fun K-pop Songs to Add Colour to Your Playlist

Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, Love, and Spring, is a popular Hindu festival celebrated in March each year. The day is spent playing with and throwing coloured powder and water. Enveloped in colours and the love of family and friends, Holi is enjoyed by many across the country and the world. Holi is also known for fun parties and Holi-themed songs have been part of the festivities for many years.

K-pop has become a term that encompasses many music genres in the Korean music industry. From pop to jazz to rock, there is a diverse mix of themes and messages created by artists. Mainstream K-pop songs are usually upbeat and catchy, and K-pop artists such as TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ASTRO and others would add a festive vibe to Holi celebrations.

Although K-pop doesn’t have a specific theme of Holi, many of the songs are colourful and enjoyable and can be a part of the Holi playlist. So here’s our pick of K-pop songs for Holi 2024!

Fun K-pop Songs For Holi 2024

EXID – Hot Pink

An oldie but a goodie, EXID’s Hot Pink was released in 2015- the year when colourful but sassy songs were released. With hip-hop, pop and EDM mixed in, it is a fun and energetic song to dance to. If you know the dance steps to the chorus, you can be the life of the party! EXID is known for releasing girl anthems during the late 2010s and while Hot Pink seems like a hyper-feminine song, it has a deeper meaning, like most of EXID’s songs.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER – Blue Hour

An uptempo disco and dance track released in 2020, Blue Hour is all about dance and one can’t help but smile as they dance because of the upbeat lyrics and instrumental. It can be played in the morning, as everyone begins their festivities. The song has a fantasy feel to it as well, with the cowbells and xylophone in the background along with the members dressed in bright coloured clothing.

BTS – Silver Spoon

Arguably one of the most underrated songs of BTS, Silver Spoon or 뱁새 is a 2016 release that had an impact on Korean fans for its meaning and the international fans for the choreography. The song points out many class differences and the cultures it influences in Korean society, especially with the older and younger generations. Coupled with a rock-inspired instrumental and crazy choreography, this song can make you the talk of the town (especially if you know the choreography).

Stray Kids’ Bangchan, Hyunjin – Red Lights

Compared to the rest of the songs on the list, Red Lights has a darker tone to it. The song and music video came out in 2021 and became extremely popular for their mature looks and addicting choreography. It would be perfect for a sundowner. With the fast-paced instrumental in the chorus, along with Bangchan and Hyunjin’s vocals- creating the perfect mix! While it is a little different it will bring a different energy to the party.

ASTRO – Blue Flame

With a reggae-inspired instrumental and dark visuals, ASTRO took over the K-pop scene when they released Blue Flame in 2019. Before the song, ASTRO had released a lot of upbeat and cute songs but Blue Flame displayed their mature side. This song is perfect for the evening, as everyone brings the festivities to an end!

Red Velvet – Red Flavour

We can’t have a colourful K-pop playlist without Red Velvet’s popular song Red Flavour! Released in 2017, the quintet came out with a song that is now known as a gateway song into K-pop and for good reason! With the poppy instrumental and light vocals, the track is addictive. The song is a great addition to the playlist as it is upbeat, fun and with an addicting choreography, you will become the life of the party!

Sunmi – pporappippam

Translated to ‘Purple-hued Night’, the 2020 release by the talented soloist Sunmi has taken the K-pop scene by storm. With its city pop aesthetic, guitar riffs and the artist’s sultry voice, the song feels like a dance party song as well as a vacation song at the same time. Sunmi is known for always experimenting with her songs and pporappippam is no different! Along with the fun choreography, the song will be a great addition to the playlist.

There are many more songs to add to the playlist but these 5 are great to start with. With these upbeat and fun tracks in your party playlist, you can add a little bit of you to the Holi festivities.
