From Scratch: Everything About Zoe Saldana’s Upcoming Romantic Drama Series

Nothing can stop Netflix from releasing its all-rounding genres of content this year, and Zoe Saldana’s drama series From Scratch is yet another spice added to its lively menu. Based on Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name, subtitled A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home, the 8 episodes of the limited series bring on an exceptional team-up of executive producers including the author herself, Attica Locke, Reese Witherspoon, Saldana and more.

Filming for the show was held in Los Angeles and Florence, Italy and it follows the author’s life-changing instance of love at first sight in the City of Lillies. Being a cross-cultural fit, the couple had to pass through several obstacles before finally settling and “Finding Home”. Let’s look into what the forthcoming series has to offer us.

Zoe Saldana leads Locke’s life story, embodying the character of Amy. She’s joined by Eugenio Mastrandrea as Lino, her love interest. Other main additions to the cast include Danielle Deadwyler as Zora, Keith David as Hershel, Kellita Smith as Lynn, Judith Scott as Maxine, Lucia Sardo as Filomena, and more. Plus, some recurring cast members are Terrell Carter, Peter Mendoza, Medalion Rahimi, and Jonathan Del Arco.

From Scratch Plot/Storyline

Amy, originally from Texas, moves to Italy to explore her art and “try things (she) may never get to again”. Falling head over heels for Lino, a professional chef, who “expresses (himself) through food”, she meets her match made in heaven. The two embark on a romantic exploration of art in Florence, with each turn diving deeper into their love story.

However, starting a new chapter of your life with someone can be bittersweet. It’s not as simple as fairytales put it out to be. The reality of one’s situation and circumstances makes all the difference and the same stands true for these two as well.

Standing strong as rocks and each other’s anchors, the two search for their respective artistic inclinations while defining their life their together. Come what may, their love and support are enough to fight against all odds.
