In the series, put off by her gloomy demeanour, Sawako has a hard time fitting in — but when an outgoing classmate approaches her, life takes a turn for the better. First-year high school student Sawako Kuronuma is mockingly nicknamed Sadako (the character from Grudge) because of her long black hair and pale skin, since the fourth grade.
However, when the test of courage comes up in her school, she decides to utilise her name and looks to become the ghost in the test, maybe get along with her classmates as well. That’s when she comes across a boy who talks to her and doesn’t care about the rumours – that says she is cold & unfriendly.
His name is Shota Kazehaya, and he is the most popular student in his class, loved by everyone for his cheerful personality. He seems to be in charge of organising the courage test and that’s when their friendship starts.

By talking with Kazehaya, Sawako slowly begins to open up to her other classmates. When others see her interacting brightly with Kazehaya, they become curious about her and also befriend her. But also because of her closeness with him, one girl hopes to get close to Kazehaya with the help of Sawako. As she lives the high school life she always dreamed of, her feelings toward Kazehaya begin to change.
From making new friends to meeting different people, the drama intends to show the sweet feeling of getting to know someone for the first time. We will find out whether Sawako chooses to act on her feelings towards Kazehaya or instead help her newly found friend to get together with him, by keeping her feelings aside.
