Forecasting Love and Weather (기상청 사람들: 사내연애 잔혹사 편) is a Korean TV series directed by Cha Young-hoon and starring Park Min-young, Song Kang, and Yoon Bak, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes and Forecasting Love and Weather episode 7 has a runtime of 70 minutes and is titled Ozone Warning.

Netflix describes the series as:

Inside a national weather service, love proves just as difficult to predict as rain or shine for a diligent forecaster and her free-spirited co-worker.

Si-woo and Ha-kyung discuss living together, something Si-woo has already done. She asks him to move in order to check how compatible they are in the long run since it’d help them to get to know each other. However, Si-woo tells her that that’s not how that works. That relationships require work every day and staying with someone doesn’t mean you get to know everything about them in an instant. According to him, if that’s the reason why she wants to move in, then he doesn’t want it.

I like them together, they can discuss things with each other and not scream. And, sure, things don’t always turn out ideally, but that’s ok as long as your feelings are out there. Meanwhile, Ki-jun and Yu-jin’s relationship is up in flames as their ideas about marriage are completely different. Yu-jin asks her husband to postpone the marriage registration since she is unsure of how this relationship will end.

The problem, however, is that now Si-woo is without a place to stay. After showering at work, he realises that fellow almost homeless colleague Dong-han has been staying at the night duty room and he decides to stay there as well. Meanwhile, Ki-jun gets some much-needed marital advice from Myung-joo while Dong-han and Ha-kyung, too, discuss how to figure out optimal distances between people.

As an ozone warning is issued and things hit the fan and complaint calls come pouring in. Complaints also pour in from other departments and the Bong-chan asks Dong-han to go home to his family instead of lurking around in the office. On the other hand, Si-woo tries to hide the fact that he’s house hunting on a minimal budget and makes her suspicious. However, that night, Si-woo lurks around in front of the elevator to run into Ha-kyung and they go out for dinner.

Things start great, but Si-woo constantly checking his phone and not telling her what’s going on rubs her the wrong way. She asks him whether he’s distancing himself because she was too forward. However, he puts her mind to rest and tells her about the realtor issue. That’s not enough and when she asks him whether his pride is getting in the way of him staying with her. Unfortunately, he blows up at her a bit, which makes her close up somewhat.

That, however, isn’t the case as we get to learn later. Ha-kyung helps Si-woo realise that it’s ok to not pretend to have everything under control. Si-woo, thus, sleeps at the night duty office but the sleep is far from restful. The storm, however, is far from over as Ha-kyung gets to know about this the next day. After listening to everything, is she left shocked at what she finds out and asks them both to move out of the room.

But that’s not it – Ha-kyung does them a solid and lets them stay with her after finding them both sleeping in their cars. It all could’ve been great had a drunk Ki-jun not brought his entitlement to her place and then thrown a fit after finding them there.

Final Thoughts: Forecasting Love and Weather Episode 7

I keep wondering whether Forecasting Love and Weather is a fluff series. Like, is it just a nice watch for the time being that keeps you mildly entertained and fascinated with the beautiful people on-screen? Because lately, I’ve found the series devoid of any bit of thrill that the initial few episodes brought. Apart from a few crank calls from annoyed people, not much action happens on-screen.

The emotional aspects, on the other hand, seem to be going in circles. Si-woo and Ha-kyung’s issues don’t get resolved because I feel like they are unsure of what they want from each other. I think taking a break after these long relationships would’ve been the way to go but that’s not an option anymore. Meanwhile, I am also tired of watching Ki-jun trying to walk all over Ha-kyung. I mean, why does she entertain him trying to get into her apartment at night? Close the door on his face. Not only did he sleep with someone on your bed, but he also tried to steal money from you on the sly.

I am not fond of the direction that the series has taken after the initial few episodes, but hey, maybe it’ll do well in the upcoming episodes.
