Whose Fashion Game is Better From the BTS Members?

BTS members aren’t merely helming the lead in the music arena, but also taking the fashion world by storm. With the oldest member, Jin having taken off for his mandatory military duty (followed by J-Hope), the remaining members of the group naturally kept the group’s name buzzing with their solo endeavours which included fashion endorsements and them taking on the names of global ambassadors for various luxury and high-end brands.

However, even except the special events or red carpets where they’ve posed as representatives for these respective brands, the septet has put their fashionable side on display at airports, and other rather candid schedules. The best means of getting an idea of what their individual choice of aesthetic looks like is to take a peek into their personal Instagram profiles.

And it’s not to claim either of them as having a superior style, because each one of them swears by a different vogue code. Moreover, it’s well understood that most of their outfits are arranged by their stylists, which is why I’ve mostly included their OOTDs from their Instagram profiles or Run BTS episodes instead of their music videos because the former hit a bit closer to home than the extravagantly unique outlook presented in their productions.

Diving into the BTS fashion palette, let’s decipher which one of them has been concisely serving us with the best moves in his fashion game.

BTS Members and Their Fashion Code

Suga aka Min Yoongi – Have You Watched the Daechwita Music Video? – “I’m a King, I’m a Boss” (We Love a Self Aware Icon)

Much like his music, his outfits also take on a darker shade which is extremely appeasing and catches one’s eye instantly. Even other than his usual choice of black clothing, whenever Suga has opted for a more colourful twist while wearing fuzzy sweaters or formal attires that go beyond the usual black and white suit and tie or tuxedo look, they’ve equally meshed well with the sophisticated and elegant air that commands his artistic personality. And it comes as no surprise that his selection of headbands, sweaters and glasses is distinctive, impressive and cool.

Park Jimin – The Jack of All Trades

You name the look, and he owns it. Denim on denim? Check. Plaid outfits? Check. Layers of leather and plaid? Check. Puffy jackets? Check. The Beret look? Check. All-Black Attire? Check. (and the list goes on). In all ways possible, he really channels his self-proclaimed nickname in his fashion sense as well – “Cutie Sexy Lovely”. Compared to his former years’ fashion choices, he’s recently been going for a rather colourful, bright or solemn palette that accentuates the acceptance of his soft personality.

V aka Kim Taehyung – The Art/Music Student Vibe

Taehyung’s general vibe and outlook towards life has often been depicted through his sombre and ruminative clothes. He’s been captured incorporating brown tones in his attires for quite some time, with high-end bags and sometimes even quirky footwear options catching our attention that owe him the look of an easy-going art or music student. In his recent photoshoots and special soirees for the brand he’s been representing, he’s also gone for rather stark bright alternatives. Either way he’s kept up the suave look and won fans over with each side of his inner fashionista.

J-Hope – Sharply Opposite of Minimalism + Streetwear

J-Hope aka Jung Hoseok works hard for his outfit combinations that turn out to be an extension of his artistic persona’s hyper-maximalism foregrounding his colourfully hopeful personality. Although he may have relied on stylists for his look in the solo Chicken Noodle Soup collaboration with Becky G, the loose-fitted outfits and flamboyant hair accessories seen in the music video best describe his fashion sense.

Jin aka Kim Seokjin – The Simple Yet Expensive Boyfriend

His well built proportions and “World Wide Handsome” energy have the ability to make a basic t-shirt look like an affluent piece of luxury clothing. Which is why even though he may be donning a simple denim outfit or the common shirt and jeans combination, his aura always means business and further confirms that he’s ready to take on a main character role and kickstart his acting career.

RM aka Kim Namjoon – Soft, Casual, Yet Forever Classy

RM’s clothing preferences make for probably the warmest, cosiest and most relaxed streetwear choices in BTS which personify ‘Namjooning’ (described as “The act of living as Kim Namjoon. This includes taking walks through parks, admiring nature, hanging out with crabs, and having fun with friends” by Urban Dictionary and ARMY Dictionary). Have you seen his collection of jackets? They’re never your average pieces of outerwear! With patchworks and bohemian designs that complement his towering proportions, Namjoon’s wardrobe makes for possibly the most underrated fashion variety.

Jungkook – Oversized Monochrome Comfort

Some of Jungkook’s airport outfits have caused frenzy and are still held in the fandom’s memory despite their public debut having been made years ago. All these signature looks of the singer have had one thing in common – his love for the monochromatic theme. Often seen donning loose-fitted black and white clothes, the youngest member of the group clearly prioritises comfort over anything else. I, personally relate with his comfort-first fashion choices the most for the same reason.

He knows how to make this style work the best for himself, especially with his arm tattoos supporting his trendy concept. Even at times when he incorporates some colour into what he’s wearing, you can always find at least one black (or similar dark-coloured tone) piece of clothing in his OOTD.

What to wear and what not to wear – such choices are always subjective and are influenced by an individual’s preferences. What may seem at the top of the rankings for someone, may not hold the same value for another. And when the entirety of the septet is so fashion-forward in terms of projecting and expressing their personalities through their clothes, it becomes even more difficult to rank either of their styles as number one.

  1. Rather than answer your question, I’m more curious on why you didn’t give any title ONLY on Yoongi/Suga fashion style???

    • actually I added “Have You Watched the Daechwita Music Video?” as his title because it was supposed to be self-explanatory (in a subtle way) – of how in the music video Yoongi says “I’m the King, I’m the Boss”, which is why he’s been placed at the top of the list too. I’ll add it since that was probably too subtle.

  2. While it’s not my type of style I think JHope has is the one who risks the most. He’s never one to back away from the most daring fashion choices. He’s so brave and tries anything. Suga says about JHope’s fashion “expensive, high-end, etc” My bias is Namjoon but Jungkook wearing cargo pants with boots is fatally sexy. Or Suga with his trademark black joggers with the white stripe mixed with an assortment of comfortable tops wear my favorite clothing choices.

  3. I always loved Hoseok’s style, it’s no surprise he was called the MVP of the fashion week. He’s bold in his choices, but he always does his research to fit the theme, look at his style at Hermes. It was impeccable, he stood out yet looked very classy. Something that Hermes stands for. Than you had the LV show, BOLD in capital!! And Dior was classy, with clean lines, yet a surprise element with the half skirt to stand out from the crowd and paired with his favorite kind of shoes: chunky and high end sneakers. I would have loved some more info about his style than just a mention about CNS, as he’s so much more than that.

    • Agreed with every thing you said, but I didn’t particularly wander off to that side because I wanted to mostly stick to their ‘personal’ fashion code (if that makes sense) instead of going into their chosen wardrobe collection options for more official and high profile public events.

  4. If I had to choose, it would be a combination of Jimin, RM and Jungkook. Would also add in a bit of Hobi and Suga too. All the guys unique styles are awesome for them!
