Recently, the K-pop music group, EXO, was expected to appear on the show Killing Voice, but it was cancelled last minute as the group’s entertainment agency announced. There have been multiple theories about why that happened in the first place, but the agency shared that they cancelled the schedule because the group had something else on their list before their comeback. Dingo Music, the channel that heads the show, had already been informed of the change and is now looking for a different date.
However, fans online have shared their disdain for SM Entertainment, as they come down on fire for sharing a bogus reason for the cancellation. According to another source from the industry, there was one member missing from the recording, and that is why their appearance had been cancelled. They also mentioned that this member had some issues with the exclusive contract drafted by the entertainment agency a while back.
Killing Voice, a YouTube show put up by Dingo Music, gives artists the opportunity to sing their songs live to be filmed and shared online. Like NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, this show has a similar energy and has featured many artists, including (G)I-DLE, BTOB, Apink, Anne Marie, and many others. Someone from SBS News has shared that while the cancellation is incredibly out of the ordinary for the band, the music show will be setting another date aside for the artists to come and record their vocals.
Fans have been incredibly loud about their anger when it comes to this cancellation. Most of them ask the entertainment agency to leave the band alone so they can pursue the things they want, while others are sharing how this must be some dirty tactics by SM Town. This cancellation comes at a critical time when three members from the same group, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, have been taking legal action against the exclusive contract and unreasonable deal.
The reason why most EXO listeners are angry is that they had openly shared that they would like to be on the music show sharing their expertise, but the reason provided by SM Entertainment is incredibly disappointing. Others have taken umbrage with the official reason as well, sharing that the agency should be mindful of all the recordings and the schedules to avoid confusion like this in the future. Some have also pointed out that there has been no rest in the fandom, given the kind of actions the entertainment agency has been taking against the band.
