-Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1 Recap Contains Major Spoilers-

Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1 starts with Kathrine Narducci playing Fez’s grandmother, making a powerful entry. She walks around a club full of naked people with a gun in her hand. The grandmother rescues young Fez from his toxic father and makes him his business partner. Fez is a young boy who only observes how powerful, foul-mouthed, yet caring his grandmother is. That’s also where he meets Ashtray, still a baby.

Fez’s grandmother introduces him to the big names of the drug-dealing market. So after her, it’s obvious that Fez takes over. Now that Fez is looking after the business, Ashtray is his business partner. The story then shifts to the present time where Fez talks Rue along for a new drugs deal meet. Outside the dealer’s apartment, Rue meets Fey, one of the dealer’s girlfriends. Together, they start taking heroin which angers the people in business.

The drugs dealer ask Rue to strip as they worry she’s taping their conversation. But Fez stops him and says she won’t betray anyone as she’s his family. The deal doesn’t go smoothly, but Fez gets what he has come for. The others are enjoying a New Year party. Lexi informs Maddy that she has no clue where Cassie is. The sisters fought, after which a drunken Cassie gets out of the car and walks away.

Cassie is at a general store where Nate arrives to buy some beers. He takes Cassie in his car for the party. The duo hooks up inside the party club’s washroom. Maddy, who’s already mad at Nate, knocks on the door and asks him to come out. Cassie freaks out as Maddy is one of her best friends. But Nate tells her to calm down and asks her to hide inside the tub and cover it with the curtains. Nate steps out of the washroom as Maddy enters. But she has no clue the entire time that Cassie is inside the bathtub.

Maddy meets a new guy Travis and the two dance together. Rue, already high, also arrives at the party. She makes a new friend Elliot, and the two do more drugs together. Lexi and Fez sit on the same couch and have a sweet talk. At the dance floor, Rue and Jules finally meet. But things don’t take time to get worse. Fez attacks Nate with a bottle and keeps hitting him in the head till it’s fully smeared with blood. Everyone is in a panic mode as the new year has a bloody start.

After an entire season 1, the makers have finally given an episode on Fez (Angus Cloud). From season 1, Fez has played a key role in Rue’s (Zendaya) life. He’s her drug supplier, a friend who cares and also the one ready to take any risk. Fez is quite an interesting character, so his backstory also has to be intriguing. The best way to know him better is to watch how cool his grandmother is. Actor Kathrine Narducci has done a great job.

Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door

It sucks to see Rue getting increasingly addicted to the toxic thing called drugs. Even a new friend she made does drugs, so we wonder what will happen to her next. The scene between Rue and Jules felt underwhelming. The others around them have wrecked their lives with new wrong actions. But Rue and Jules are still stuck with drugs and their complicated romance.

Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, today’s episode is a good one for Fez. It starts with him and ends with him. It would be interesting to see how long Cassie hides from Maddy about her hook up with Nate. Rue and Jules seem happy to see each other. But are they getting together or still going to repeat season 1 drama? Only time will tell.

The episode is now streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
