End of the Road stars Queen Latifah as Brenda, Chris Ludacris Bridges as Reggie, Shaun Dixon as Sam, Mychala Lee as Kelly, along with Beau Bridge and Frances Lee McCain. Directed by Millicent Shelton, the story is written by Christopher J Moore and David Loughery. The runtime of the Netflix movie is 1 hour 31 minutes.
The synopsis reads, “Recently widowed mom Brenda fights to protect her family during a harrowing road trip when a murder and a missing bag of cash plunge them into danger.”
Netflix’s End of the Road Movie Review Contains No Spoilers
In the Netflix film End of the Road, Brenda loses a lot of money for her husband’s chemotherapy session. The husband dies, and Brenda struggles to meet ends. She has no choice but to leave Los Angeles with her children Sam and Kelly (Shaun Dixon and Mychala Lee) and brother Reggie (Chris Ludracis Bridges). Brenda decides to drive them all up to Houston to start a new life. However, it’s a long journey, and many unexpected incidents happen that put Brenda and her family in trouble.
The movie was a road trip gone wrong and had a lot of potential with its plot. Sadly, it becomes unfunny, lame and predictable. I say this because the moment Brenda and her family hit the road, things start to become lame after some time. While there’s a scene highlighting the racism against Black people, the narrative appears weak in the thriller aspect.
When Brenda and her family rest at a hotel, they hear a gunshot in the next room. One may say that they were, unfortunately, at the wrong place at the wrong time. But for some weird reason, Brenda runs to help the man, who is clearly a bad guy. Reggie follows her, and they find a bag full of cash. If running to help the man wasn’t dumb enough, they took the bag of cash with them.
In horror movies, we often wonder if the characters are dumb because they willingly choose to enter a creepy room or turn back. Here, that’s what I felt when Brenda decides to see what happened in the next room.

It comes across as very stupid for Brenda’s character, considering how she was shown protective towards her family when two white boys harassed her. The movie then goes downhill till the end. You hardly have any interest when everything comes together during the third act. The plot is lame, and one ends up guessing what might actually happen.
Queen Latifah is fun to watch on screen, and as Brenda, she tries to give her best. But the weak writing overpowers everything.
Netflix Film End of the Road Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, End of the Road is a lacklustre action thriller. It has many weak moments. The movie would’ve worked better if it was a dark comedy thriller or had a more serious tone and a solid script. Of the supporting characters, only the kids do a fine job.

Watch the movie on Netflix.

I could not get past the first 15 boring minutes – seemed like a bunch of clips spliced together, and did not want to watch after a guy was shot in the face in a desert – did not know why the film was made or a plot was far from view
I found it racist towards white people to a degree. There were things said if in reverse would make black people scream racist. If we are going to stop racism. Call things racist. It needs to go both ways for all races.
I agree, not only I found the movie to lame and predictable but also was geared to make all white people looked corrupt, stupid and racist.
I agree. I had to turn it off. It was not ok for the actor to say “that’s what stupid white boy do” I can only imagine the riots that would start if that was reversed.
Yes very negative towards whites making them look stupid or red neck/racist. Movie needs kicked from Netflix every remark towards whites was negative how’s the racism going to stop?? Can’t just yell the N word why should they be able to put this movie out….cracker this cracka that. It’s 2022 alm.
Terrible movie. Very racist towards white people.
I had problems with this movie along the lines of plausibility in plot development mostly around the actions of the regionally feared Mr. Cross, the Cartel’s seemingly drug deal in reverse. I made those flaws known in posts on other sites. However, after viewing all the ruckus about reverse-racism and unwarranted troupes of whites, I am now inclined to give the film a more positive review.
For just about all of Hollywood’s history, just about every ‘Fish out of water tale be it comedy or drama (if it involves a city) will inherently, at some point have the main characters fall prey to the ruthless black gang, black predator, black prostitutes/pimps and black hood or blackness in general. Because we all know this is the only environment that exist in city when blacks are concerned. Just about every falsely imprisonment story will have the main character fall prey to the black bully, right at the beginning of their imprisonment ! and throughout. Every post apocalyptic movie will the black character rob you of what little possessions you have. Should I make a list ?They will either bring in the disease or either make the critical mistake for allowing for the dz, zombies, and whatever other calamity to enter. Ironically after making my earlier first post about the plausibility of the plot-line, I settled in for the night’s viewing. I came across 2022 ‘Night becomes Day’. The movie surrounds the two survivors of a nuclear attack. As soon as a door is breached and a gun is menacingly showed; I knew it would be a black man playing the part. Yep! He’s got the gun, gonna due the stealing, say how pretty a reasonably very ordinary white women is an inordinate amount of times. All the boxes checked for the black brute, now all that is left is to have the white saviors grant him mercy.
Were the black characters too fluent for you? You may want to ask yourself that given what you are usually dished is a pantomime of jive and profanities for all black characters.
I’m not saying two wrongs make a right but 1 wrong going the other way against Thousands of acceptable wrongs, surely puts thing into perspective.
So in closing I say “Walk a mile, a single mile, in the shoes of black portrayal in Hollywood, that ‘s been walked, the same stereotyped line, for thousands of miles and for the better part of a century; and continues, mostly unabated today”.Consider that then complain.
Your entire statement is very inaccurate. A black person can’t be racist. Racism was created by white folks. White folks are the only people on earth that are racist. If you believe racism is about words, you too are part of the problem. Racism is about action. Racism is convincing the world my people are inferior because of their skin color. Black people have no power in this country. Racist devils get to write our story and get to set the narrative. Do you understand what racism is about. Look up the definition and then sit back and think, how could a race of people who have been, colonized, divided, separated from their culture, language and diet, removed off their land be racist to the WHITE RACE. GROW UP SO THINGS CAN CHANGE STOP BEING PART OF THE PROBLEM AND START BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION. MAY YOUR GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO HEART.
Racism can’t simply reversed. Racism isn’t “saying” words that offend you. It is a social construct where power dynamics matter and white people aren’t and haven’t been systematically oppressed in this country. If you say the movie was full of bigotry, I can agree with that. For the sake of context, the movie is set in backwatered parts of towns where these people would be hostile to people of color. Regardless, white people aren’t in danger of all being seen as red necks. There are tons of white representation on television. This was just a bad movie.
Sorry but very racist movie against whites. If roles were reversed it would be a big deal! Not a good movie and very disappointed in these actresses I used to like very much. It’s stupidity to even have said some of the things that were said like “cracker”. Shame on you for allowing this Netflix.
I knew as soon as Luda had the BLM tank top on it’d be a woke messed up movie. Yes, it is racist towards white people. This is how our country is changing and not for the better. Any movie being racist against blacks or whites shouldn’t be made. Haven’t we learned anything from the past and what Martin Luther said? Oh that’s right Hollywood is ran by the global elite and they don’t want peace and unity. Wake up people joe biden is our president. ☮️❤️
You are so sadly wrong. Racism is being biased towards another person due to their color or culture… period. Anyone of any race or culture can be racist towards another person. Social construct may make it easier for a white person to do so historically in the USA, but looking at the whole of human history, your argument simply doesn’t hold water. Look up the actual definition in the dictionary. That being said, this film does NOTHING but play into racist fears that we SHOULD BE GETTING OVER, not glorifying in our movies!! How many young Black youth will see this movie and STILL believe that even stepping outside an urban area is dangerous for them? That dogs are to be feared? That all cops are shifty evil and out to get them?
I am from rural Iowa, and I am as white as white can be, and I NEVER saw ANYONE in my home town growing up that would disrespect ANY person of color or from another culture. Anyone who did, would instantly be shut down for acting like a fool! In fact, we were so starved for culture, that we literally probably bugged people who were different from ourselves too much with ours at the front door and invites to barbeques…just so we could experience something outside of our normal scope. Everyone was treated with the same amount of respect and friendliness that they gave.. always. This film does nothing but stereotype, and that is something that this country needs LESS of, not more of. Two wrongs never make a right…no excuses.
Very racist toward white people. Period. It was just too much, I couldn’t watch the whole movie. I had to end it. Sad, because I liked q-latifa and Luda and I’m from the south.
hahahaha. the only race that is discriminated against in the western world, are white people.
the only reason blacks might powerless (they arent), is because they rank 1 in crime, single mom households and abortion. no one keeps a black kid from doing good and going to college. you even have it easier through affirmative action.
stop blaming white people, cause your retarded gang and rap culture is whats keeping you down
also: africa is a shit hole continent, because of black people. its ruined by “your peoples” corruption, nothing else
I couldn’t concur more.
???????? Couldn’t have aid it better. Want racism to go away? STOP publicizing it for the younger generations.
WOW this film showed Hispanics and whites as ALL BAD and the stereotyping was UGLY. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela would have not agreed with this movie at all, it is everything they were fighting against. #DON’T DIVIDE US NOW ????????
Exactly what I thought. Horrible racist movie. So sad latifah is promoting racism.
I agree. Every time people of color make these reverse racist movies they lose momentum in their fight to open white peoples eyes. I refuse to watch Ice Cube after Barbershop 2. We can all get along but racism has to stop on all sides permanently.
I found it to be racist against white people, last queen latifa movie ill ever watch!
You’re a fool. Black people can be and are racist…Only a complete idiot can write the phrase, “A black person can’t be racist”. Somebody like you is part of the problem, and the sooner you’re not around, the sooner things start to get better…
