Early Eternals Reviews Out! Did Marvel Fail to Impress? Read More

The early birds have watched the anticipated Marvel film resulting in a flood of early Eternals reviews. This MCU film has an ensemble cast featuring Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gil Birmingham, Harish Patel, and Kit Harington. Directed by Oscar-award winning director Chloe Zhao, Eternals seemed to have failed to impress the audience irrespective of the big promises it made.

The general air of the reviews are positive, nonetheless, it is still the worst-reviewed movie in the Marvel franchise MCU movies only a little ahead of films like Thor: The Dark World, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. The score for Eternals stands at 73% on Rotten Tomatoes after 40 reviews on the site.

David Ehrlich from the IndieWire wrote, “Can’t these movies do anything else? Is it too much to ask the most dominant kind of cinema on the planet to shake things up and challenge itself in a more significant way?” indicating the repetitive nature of marvel films. The Playlist’s Rodrigo Perez also wrote a negative review that reads: “A convoluted cosmic misfire and one of Marvel’s dullest efforts in years.”

However, USA Today’s Brian Truitt set the record in a different tone saying: “Utilizing Zhao’s penchant for naturalistic environments, “Eternals” looks unlike any other Marvel movie and is perhaps the most welcoming for MCU neophytes in forever.” Even South China Morning Post’s James Mottram complimented Angelina Jolie’s performance saying, “The fight-driven action is fun – Jolie really has a ball – but it all feels geared towards setting up further adventures.”

These reviews only bring us to question how the general audience will feel about it- will it be awed by Marvel’s stunning visuals or will the weak story bite off everyone’s expectations? To find out, it is essential to catch ‘Eternals’ on November 5, 2021.
