Ayushmann Khurrana is back in his dreamy avatar Pooja in the new Dream Girl 2 trailer and he looks ravishing. The first part was absolutely loved by the audiences and the critics alike. This is what must have led director Raaj Shaandilyaa to work on a sequel. And we are thankful to him for it.
The makers will be upping the “dream” game of confusion with a stellar cast that includes living legends like Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, and Asrani, along with returning actors Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Toto and Abhishek Banerjee as Jagjit Singh (father of Ayushmann’s character Karamveer), Smiley, Raj Bhansali and Shah Rukh (new character) respectively. Ananya Pandey will be starring opposite Ayushmann which naturally makes me want to know whether this will be a new story or a continuation in which case, where is Nushrat Bharucha’s Mahi?
In the trailer, Karam has to become Pooja to earn enough money (INR 25 Lakhs) so that he can ask for Ananya’s character’s hand from her father (played by Manoj Joshi). And the means to earn such a huge amount is to marry Shah Rukh as Pooja whom he has fallen in love with.
The marriage will bring in 50 lakh rupees with which Pooja aka Karam can marry Ananya. But then Karam aka Pooja will have to break her marriage with Shah Rukh. How will that turn out? On top of this, there are Pooja’s string of lovers who she has to “satisfy” with her voice, including Ranjan Raj (also in the movie), Rajpal and Vijay. There is also another love-story that will move parallel to Ayushmann-Ananya it seems i.e. Seema Pahwa-Annu Kapoor. Well, altogether, Dream Girl 2 is going to be another comedy of errors.
The promotion for the movie has been very innovative and a lot appealing. The first post shared by Ayushmann showed Pooja speaking to the Baadshah of Romance aka Shah Rukh Khan himself. In the next one, she is speaking with Ranbir Kapoor and in the third one, he is speaking with Bhaijaan aka Salman Khan although he isn’t a bhaijaan for her I’m sure.
These tactics only highlight Pooja’s popularity (voice) so much so that even such famous actors are, dare I say, down with speaking to her. One of the Insta posts was for us, who are also her lovers, in the form of a love letter. In it, Pooja asks us to wait for some more time till we meet her. Ayushmann’s voice not only steals the show but our hearts too; both his voices, to be precise.
Different posters have been released so far. One has the actor in the two characters he will be playing, namely Karamveer and Pooja. One has him hiding the truth from his potential girlfriend Ananya. The final one that dropped today shows Pooja being surrounded by her lovers. This might mean that they will get to see (stressed) her in the movie. This isn’t what happened in the first movie wherein Pooja’s lovers could only speak with her on the phone.
