Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 4 Recap and Review: Jin-man Takes Over Doldam Trauma Centre

Dr Romantic season 3 (낭만닥터 김사부3) is the latest season of the romance medical Kdrama of the same name directed by Yoo In-shik. The show stars Han Seok-kyu, Lee Sung-kyung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Joo-heon, So Ju-yeon, and Jin Kyung, alongside other cast members.

The new season brings the grand opening of Doldam Trauma Centre but with new challenges as Kim Sa-bu and his team face them in their professional and personal lives. As the scale of incidents and accidents that the hospital has to manage, the team has to provide top-quality care for their patients.

The show will have 16 episodes and be broadcasted on SBS on the Friday-Saturday slot at 10 PM previously occupied by Taxi Driver season 2. Dr Romantic season 3 episode 4 has a run time of 76 minutes.

The synopsis of the show reads:

AT DOLDAM, A SMALL COUNTRYSIDE HOSPITAL, KIM SA-BU WORKS WITH PASSIONATE YOUNG DOCTORS AND TREATS VARIOUS PATIENTS, DELIVERING HEALING TO MANY.

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 4 begins with a blazing fire burning down a building near the hospital while the Doldam team are operating on the athlete. While Jin-man continues to observe the surgery, Dong-hwa approaches Woo-jin and points out his mistake when he sent back the patient early that day.

He then leaves as it is the end of his duty, however, he soon comes face to face with a stream of patients who have arrived from the same villa which caught on fire. The doctors are going around everywhere treating the patients while Woo-jin gets a call to come to the ER.

Sa-bu notices him rush out and leaves Eun-jae as the primary surgeon after noticing her efficiently apply her skills, however, Jin-man questions him as soon as he steps out. Wondering if this is a trick to put the blame on his daughter if anything goes wrong with the surgery, he questions Sa-bu only to be laughed at.

Sa-bu makes it clear that his part has been long finished and he trusts Eun-jae’s skills after which he leaves to check the ER. There he sees Ah-reum successfully inserting a tube into the throat of a patient and smiles along with her as she had done it for the first time.

They then get back to treating the patients while Woo-jin rushes to the old woman who is in a bad state. The team decide on getting her ready for surgery when a lighter is found in her hand and a suspicion that she is the arsonist arises. They soon contact the police, however, this doesn’t stop the treatment.

Woo-jin then asks to have norepinephrine administered but Dong-hwa is done with his bossing and questions him why it should be given to the patient who is old. He continues to bicker with Woo-jin before finally leaving to get the operation theatre ready.

Sa-bu notices this and follows him only to see him once again trying to tick off Woo-jin by mentioning the wrong judgement he made that got the athlete back to the hospital. Woo-jin tells him that he has already learnt his mistake and will not stop his work but move on and try to not repeat it.

Being a doctor is not easy and their work is to treat those who have already been hurt, not those who are going to be hurt. Woo-jin makes his point clear and returns to the ER but Dong-hwa is not satisfied with his answer. Sa-bu then approaches him and seeing him not call to have the operation theatre prepared, he himself makes the move.

Meanwhile, Eun-jae gives the newbie Seon-wung the chance to close the cut, but noticing his skills, she moves him to finish it herself. Later, she finds out that the ER is filled with patients from the nearby building where she used to live before moving. Looking at the familiar faces, she feels sympathetic but soon finds out about the old woman who is being blamed as the arsonist.

However, she also sees an unfamiliar face in the crowd and her suspicion grows. Meanwhile, Woo-jin is waiting for the patient to arrive but finds that the patient’s family hasn’t signed the consent form yet.

He soon finds the old woman’s son crying next to her bed when suddenly she throws up blood and needs to be rushed. The man tells him that he has no money for the surgery which is why he has been unable to sign the consent form. Seeing this, Sa-bu arrives and promises to pay for the surgery while reminding him that if the situation were to be reversed then his mother wouldn’t take this long to sign.

The man soon signs the form and everyone prepares for the surgery. Sa-bu enters to assist Woo-jin who is surprised and asks about Dong-hwa only to be told that he won’t be coming for now. A flashback shows Sa-bu trying to teach Dong-hwa what it means to be a doctor in an operation theatre.

Dong-hwa asks him why they need to save an arsonist while taking a national-level athlete so easily. Sa-bu tells him that there is no bias when it comes to patients and everyone needs to be saved by a doctor, be it an arsonist or an athlete.

Dong-hwa is not ready to accept this and continues to go against him when Sa-bu loses his cool and goes to being the strict self who had first taught his students. He shows him a glimpse of his real strict self which scared Dong-hwa after which he makes it clear that Dong-hwa will not be allowed to enter the operation theatre until he says so.

The surgery continues while Dong-hwa watches from outside before leaving in frustration only to come across a crowd. Eun-jae sees him coming and tells him that the real arsonist has been caught and has confessed to his crime. The old woman had been trying to stop him when the lighter got into her hand.

This shock Dong-hwa as he goes back to the theatre where the surgery continues. Meanwhile, Woo-jin continues with the surgery and the situation soon comes under control, but they soon find something strange and get a biopsy done. They soon find out that it is cancer and prepare for the second surgery in the following days.

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 4 ends with the surgery soon coming to an end and Dong-hwa is seen waiting outside for Woo-jin. He then asks about the patient and Woo-jin explains the situation to him. He then thanks him for questioning him earlier as he took up Dong-hwa’s suggestion and got through the procedure easily.

Dong-hwa becomes emotional while Sa-bu and the others celebrate the way Woo-jin handled the situation while eavesdropping on them. The hectic night soon comes to an end for the Doldam team and everyone gets some rest from the busy day that they faced.

Elsewhere, Sa-bu meets the athlete’s coach who is also his father and hears out the story of how he got arrogant from winning a gold medal when he was young. His wish to avoid having his son face the same situation drove him to the point where his son is now in the hospital.

Sa-bu hears him out and tells him that a person’s will can bring a miracle in their life, so working hard with this will is what can help him and his son. He then packs up to leave and comes across Jin-man who rebukes his methods which do not follow principles while he himself has ended up in this countryside hospital.

Sa-bu laughs it off and says that works hard to achieve his dreams each day and being able to treat his patients is what makes him happy. Jin-man is frustrated by his attitude and is ready to drop a surprise on him the next day.

The morning soon arrives and everyone seems to be in a good mood while Eun-jae rushes back home after having spent the night with Woo-jin in the hospital. She shares breakfast with her father and soon arrives at the hospital where Min-guk gives the final list of doctors prepared by Jin-man to Sa-bu.

Soon, Woo-jin, Eun-jae, Eun-tak, Moon-jung, In-soo, Do-il, Ho-joon and nurse Young-mi are called to the trauma centre where they are to work under Jin-man. While Nurse Oh asks Sa-bu if this is what he expected to happen, Woo-jin rejects the offer and begins to leave.

However, he is stopped by Jin-man who instigates him by asking if he lacks confidence in the skills he learnt from Sa-bu.

Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 4 Review

The excitement is getting better with each weekend and with Jin-man fanning the flames, unaware that it is because of Sa-bu’s plans, is only making the drama better. Episode 4 has brought back a glimpse of the old Sa-bu which has only made it better, while the duty of a doctor is once again taught to us all.

The episode brought in the anger of another young blood along with the challenges that are faced in the medical field. However, the romance doesn’t stop as our couples continue to bring in heartwarming moments every chance they get.

And not to forget, the older members are really having some fun looking at the younger ones sorting things out and making new achievements each day.
