Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man may have been to space, but his heart in real life is closer to the ground, and we’re about to witness his gear-headed love in the upcoming new Max show, Downey’s Dream Cars. Vintage cars make for a direct passage to many people’s hearts, and RDJ is no exception to that norm. The “idea man” is ready to introduce a new side (on a more non fictional front) of himself this year.
With this, the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” is now adding a new page to his life story. While he may have stepped aside from his Tony Stark persona, his fans have often seen him as a spitting image of the affluent Marvel superhero. And, in this high-speed escapade he looks similar to what Tony would’ve been like during his retirement years, as he kicks back and relishes in his taste of classy vintage cars. Here’s what his new gig is about to look like.
Downey’s Dream Cars Cast
The Max original series has been directed and written by David Larzelere, with Downey himself and Susan Downey coming in as the leading executive producers among other names. Also appearing in Christopher Nolan’s war drama film Oppenheimer this year, the Avengers actor is set to lead the show as its stellar host.
Downey’s Dream Cars Plot/Storyline
The upcoming Max series illustrates how Downey enlisted the help of a crew to restore his old vintage cars “in ways that are less harmful to the planet”. While the crew members advice him against that for a second and seem apprehensive to mess with the beauty in front of them, Downey plays the “I can’t leave it alone” card, and adds an electric twist to his collection. Despite the speed bumps along the way, the legendary actor is in for the ride.

Taking one car at a time, Downey is ready and buckled up to commence his classic car restoration era and go down in history yet again. As he calls it, “the cars of the 60s and 70s just make your heart beat a little faster”, and we can’t disagree with that. The environmentally conscious star has even previously funded The Footprint Coalition, a company tapping into new innovations of advanced technology through which the reduction of carbon footprints can be initiated. Therefore, he’s turning around his “Petrol-spewing mess” into what could be a more sustainable and equally stylish upgrade.
