Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 7 Recap
This episode could deliver everything fans hoped for. The story progresses significantly, beginning with Tanjiro successfully moving the massive boulder, earning acknowledgement from the strongest Hashira, Himejima. Himejima recognizes Tanjiro’s selflessness, noting that, unlike others, Tanjiro doesn’t claim credit for others’ achievements or seek praise.
Himejima’s tragic past is also revealed, where he has been betrayed by his own people. Surprisingly, Himejima has a connection to Zenitsu through Kaigaku, who is also behind Zenitsu’s unusually grave demeanour later in the episode. Known for his typically unserious attitude, Zenitsu’s serious expression hints at significant developments.

Tanjiro continues his training and reaches Giyu’s place, where he finds Giyu and Sanemi sparring. Their light-hearted banter ends with Sanemi leaving, embarrassed by Tanjiro’s innocent remark.
The episode concludes with a dramatic setup where Muzan finally faces off with his mortal enemy, Ubuyashiki.
Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 8 Review and Recap

Before getting into the positives of this episode, I want to address the unsavoury bits. We all know how profitable the Demon Slayer franchise is for the makers, but how they milk this dry all the time is really annoying. The first few minutes got wasted with the recap of Muzan’s slow-mo walk, and then almost the entire first half went poof with chatting between Muzan and Ubuyashiki. I understand that we were being readied for the shock of the year that was to come, but it was still frustrating to see nothing happen. But that was all the bad things I could muster because, after that, Ufotable went into absolute beast mode.
I do not know what special techniques the animators utilize, but we really can not compliment Ufotable enough for what they present us with. The explosion scene was nothing short of breathtaking, with every element begging to be noticed. Perhaps the most memorable scene that proves just how good the animation was was the details of snowflakes falling and the regeneration of Muzan.

Apart from this, I must also mention the immaculate build-up to the ultimate move that Muzan pulls is sheer brilliance. At one point, you might think that everything will be over, but the very next moment, you realize just who we are dealing with, and Muzan gains the upper hand in no time. Ufotable is indeed a master at creating hype around its characters, either with sudden backstories or a shift in their expressions.
Here, as well, we see just how determined Ubuyashiki was about his goal from the very beginning and how much Zenitsu has prepared himself for his final vengeance. These nuanced scenes only heighten our anticipation for the moments when they finally unleash their full fury and go berserk.

The conclusion thus makes you mad with unfulfilled expectations and suspense yet excited about the last season. You know the show will be great, but sadly, we will not see it anytime soon.
Verdict
The only thing that I can say about this episode is that Ufotable outdid themselves, and I do not know how they can go beyond this in terms of animation in the upcoming season. The music was also very fitting, especially the song that Hinaki and Nichika sing, which carried an oddly eerie yet haunting feeling that fits the grim mood very well.

This episode really saved the entire season, which did not show much promise because of how slow-paced it was. But yes, do not hesitate to watch this season, as this episode alone should be enough reason to start.
