Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 4 Recap

This episode continues Tanjiro’s training journey, now focusing on his time with Tokito. Tanjiro arrives at Tokito’s place and is immediately struck by Tokito’s blunt and ruthless treatment of his students, often giving harsh reality checks about their lack of talent.

However, Tokito’s demeanor changes when he sees Tanjiro, who has become a friend after their fight in the Swordsmith Village. Tanjiro’s experience is markedly different from the others, not only because of their bond but also due to Tanjiro’s natural talent. Within just a few days, Tanjiro masters the basics and makes the technique his own.

This portion dominates the episode, and although it feels stretched at times, it includes some visually stunning fight sequences, particularly when Tokito battles Sanemi and Obanai. Despite these highlights, the episode feels light and uneventful overall.

Seeing Tokito again, especially with his newfound sense of growth and occasional smiles, is a pleasant experience. His development since their last encounter is evident, and it’s heartwarming to see him act more his age around Tanjiro.

Towards the episode’s end, Tanjiro even creates an opportunity for Tokito to make more friends, highlighting the bond between them and showcasing Tanjiro’s positive influence. While the pacing may be slow, it’s rewarding to witness these character moments and the evolving dynamics between them.

In the next episode, we will see Tanjiro going to Mitsuri and training with her. Things should go smoothly here because Tanjiro has previously worked with the Hashira in the previous arc. However, Tanjiro still needs more training regarding his flexibility, and hence, Mitsuri can help a lot. We might also see other Hashiras or characters like Zenistsu and Inosuke.
