Mass Bollywood director Rohit Shetty will be expanding his superhit cop universe, with the addition of Deepika Padukone (Om Shanti Om, Pathaan) as the first lady cop of the franchise. Moreover, the director will be collaborating with the acclaimed actress after his comedy-drama Chennai Express (2013).
Notably, the actress was recently seen in the newly released song Current Laga Re from his upcoming film Cirkus. The new movie stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and will be his second flick with Rohit Shetty, after Simba.

In the announcement video, director Rohit Shetty reveals that he has been working on the next Singham film, as part of his much-loved cop universe, ever since the wrap of Cirkus. However, this time around, there will be a big surprise for the audience, who will get to see the first Lady Singham (Deepika Padukone) in the picture.
It appears from the video, that the announcement was pretty impromptu, and even surprised the lead actor Ranveer Singh. Moreover, the 83 star also mentions that “You heard it here first“, to the members of the press and media.
The last Rohit Shetty feature was Akshay Kumar Sooryavanshi, which was delayed for almost a year, due to the pandemic. The movie was then released in theatres after cinemas re-opened for the audience and grossed more than 200 crores worldwide. Making it one of the highest earning flick of Shetty’s career.
Furthermore, the new Rohit Shetty film will feature an ensemble of Ranveer Singh in a dual role, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Varun Sharma in a dual role, Siddhartha Jadhav, Mukesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirjee, Ashwini Kalsekar, Murali Sharma, Tiku Talsania, Vijay Patkar, Brijendra Kala, Anil Charanjeett, Uday Tikekar, Abhinay Raj Singh, Sulabha Arya, Raaj Vishwakarma, Saurabh Gokhale, Garima Agarwal, Radhika Bangia, Umakant Patil, and Ashish Warang.
