Dare to Love Me Episode 8 Recap
Yoon-bok leaves the hospital, followed by Hong-do. They argue, with Yoon-bok accusing her of meddling in his life, and she questions how long he will keep his emotional barriers up. Frustrated, Yoon-bok walks away. Later, Yi-bok is informed by the doctor that her mother is nearing death and it’s time to say goodbye.
Reflecting on Hong-do’s words, Yoon-bok feels upset. The scene then shifts to Yoon-ah and Hong-hak, where Hong-hak asks her to be his muse, and she responds by sharing stories of real-life fights where she defeated large men, even showing him some stunts. Meanwhile, Camille arrives in Seongsan village, guided by Yeoju on where to get essentials. Wearing a modern outfit, she shocks the villagers and visits a tea house, requesting a cappuccino. When offered only authentic green tea, she tries to mix it with steamed milk, offending the tea maker who kicks her out.
Later, Yoon-bok visits his mother, Hye-won, while she rests. Believing she is unconscious, he vents his hurt, saying he won’t forgive her and plans to abandon her. Hye-won, who hears everything, sheds a tear. Shortly after, Hong-do receives a call from Yi-bok informing her of Hye-won’s passing.

Yoon-bok gets a text from the hospital about his mother’s death, feeling numb. Hong-do consoles Yi-bok. Yoon-bok receives a parcel from his mother through Yi-bok and takes it back to his apartment, opening it at midnight. Inside, he finds a collection of his childhood photos, a shirt, and a letter.
The letter reveals that Yoon-bok’s grandfather, Lord Shin, had expelled Hye-won from the village, blaming her for his son Sa-do’s death. Lord Shin demanded that Hye-won stay away from Yoon-bok, the village’s heir, fearing for his safety. Despite her pleas to see her son, Hye-won stayed away to protect him.
Angry, Yoon-bok confronts his grandfather, declaring he won’t marry Se-ryeong or become the heir, choosing to live freely instead. Hearing of Hye-won’s death, Lord Shin feels devastated. Jun-ho, learning of Hye-won’s passing from his mother Yeoju, visits the funeral. Seeing Lord Shin, he walks away, finding Yi-bok asleep in distress.
Lord Shin pays his respects, feeling guilty. Hong-do searches for Yoon-bok, eventually finding him disheartened in the rain. She offers him an umbrella, but Yoon-bok throws it down and hugs her from behind, startling her.
