Daisy Jones and the Six Teaser Breakdown

The teaser starts with crowds chanting Daisy over and over again. We then see snippets of their film camera capturing the tour and the fans lining up to meet them. The text on the screen tells us what kind of story this is going to be, one of chaos and strife. While The Six were doing well as a band, playing small venues and growing independently, Daisy Jones’ arrival promised them something bigger and better. Worldwide fame.

However, appearances are definitely deceiving because, behind this perfect image of the band members rocking out and selling out large venues, there are broken relationships, tensions and infighting that should not have been happening. This next shot shows Daisy sitting and explaining that she would tell the person opposite everything. This is a direct callback to the book, which is written entirely in an interview format and has no traditional prose as other books would.

The first look of their music on stage is enough to pull audiences in. Their voices are rich, crisp and powerful, really indicative of how the 70s rock music took the world by storm. The next few shots show the band in their good times, taking vans to go places, shooting every aspect of the tour and playing large and open venues filled with screaming fans.

In the next few shots, we see Billy and his wife Camila making their way to their new home and starting a family while Daisy’s voice plays in the background, telling him about how the lyricism in the songs has to change. The juxtaposition of this with the family image that Billy Dunne has is definitely hinting towards something driving a wedge in the relationship.

Daisy is shown to be a catalyst for Billy to write music and grow his songwriting muscle beyond his potential. However, there are no good things without cost. We see Daisy meeting her friend in the midst of this, Billy and her relationship souring while the stadiums continue to fill up. The next sequence of shots shows the band clicking pictures which is a pivotal point in the novel, signalling something changing within the group dynamics of this band.

However, the way the teaser ends with Riley Keough’s voice echoing in the arena is precisely the energy this show is bringing, and fans of the book cannot wait. For all those who have read the novel, this teaser touches upon some of the most heartbreaking and gut-wrenching scenes, it is possible that the show would completely elevate the novel by involving the visual medium.

The questions we should be asking are, what kind of relationship do Daisy and Billy have? What causes the band to splinter? And finally what are the band members hiding behind this facade of greatness?
