Apink recently released their mini-album, and with it, the D N D MV, which features the band members Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jeong Eun-ji, Kim Nam-joo and Oh Ha-young in different professional clothing talking about the way their lives have now become visible only through a keyhole.
All of their settings are based on modern professions like a corporate worker, a waitress, an artist, a student and a curator. The video shows them together only for the choruses. However, for the rest of the time, we see them isolated, doing their own thing in their own world that is so different from the other band members.

Meanwhile, the girls are speaking about their lives in these four walls, stuck to their jobs and stuck to the mundanity that this life can bring. The visuals are extremely brilliant, and the colour coordination is fantastic. While we start by seeing the five members doing their own thing, we are shown their workspaces and outfits. While the artist is wearing pastel, almost white colours within an airy white room, the corporate worker stands in the copy room, making printouts of the sad smiley face that people continue to step on.
Following this, we see the curator wearing an avant-garde-like outfit while sitting outside the gallery looking solemn. Everyone inside is clicking a picture of the art while she sits outside, saddened to know that no one will ever pay her this much attention. The student is seen skipping about the zebra crossing, standing among people who are all getting late and wearing similar monochromatic outfits. She is the outlier in this situation. The waitress looks outside with nostalgia as the dishes pile endlessly in front of her.
However, they all find a way to escape these situations for a while to dance brilliantly with each other in perfectly synched choreography. They talk about how all these professions are just a little dust in our life that we can remove to achieve the dreams we have shoved in the corner of some room right now. Even though our dreams may take some time to come true, it is okay to say you are lost or finding your way.

The singers take this opportunity to show that they have all left behind their keyhole lives and instead decide to embrace who they are in front of the camera. The clear and crisp visuals starkly contrast the recent affinity towards early and mid-2000s grainy imagery. They want this song to be about modern people and especially women who are ready to move away from the roles assigned to them to do something fantastic in this life.
D N D is the first single from SELF, which is Apink’s 10th mini-album or extended play. They have been making music since 2011, when they debuted with their mini-album Seven Springs of Apink. They have made their mark in the industry as a group that makes bubblegum pop evocative of the 90s pop genre and hip-hop music with a cheery swing when it comes to the lyrics. Their visuals are a good indication of this kind of aesthetic.
Previously, they are two more members, including Hong Yoo-kyung and Son Na-eun. They also made their Japanese debut in 2014 and have since then released three albums in the language. Their extended play, SELF, contains five songs, including D N D; Withcha; Me, Myself & I; Candy, and I want you to be happy.
